When Jacob Reitan heard a young man talk about the pain and fear he felt as a gay student at Wheaton (Ill.) College, a school that opposes any expression of homosexuality, he got an idea.
Reitan, 24, of Eden Prairie, was inspired by such stories, as well as by an admiration for the civil rights activists of the 1960s, to organize a "freedom ride" that will travel by bus to 19 U.S. colleges with religion-based policies that exclude gays. The young activists, who are Christians, hope to talk with students and faculty members. This morning, Reitan and four others will fly to Washington, D.C., to join about 30 other "Soulforce Equality Riders" for training before they set out on their seven-week, cross-country crusade.
On Thursday night, hundreds gathered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis to honor the Minnesota participants -- Reitan; David Durand, 26, and Carolyn Westra, 25, both of Minneapolis; David Coleman, 23, of Delano -- and ride co-organizer Haven Herrin, 23, of Dallas.
Issues around homosexuality deeply divide U.S. Christians. Some believe the Bible compels them to oppose gay rights, while others say it calls them to advocate for them.

At Thursday's service, Coleman received a standing ovation after he spoke emotionally about being kicked out of North Central after revealing that he is gay.
"God loves you just the way you are," said Coleman, who was a senior when he was asked to leave the college last year. "Nothing can take us away from the love of God."
Durand said the riders will speak "for those who can't speak for themselves, because they must stay closeted."
Said Westra: "These [anti-gay] folks won't come to us, so we have to go to them."

The problem here little Jacob, homosexuals choose to be this way, blacks, women never were something else and then became this way.
Remember, homosexuals are trying to make society accept them for what they have become, not for who they are.
Why the hell would a gay student go to a school like Wheaton? It isn't like their aren't plenty of schools that love queers and offer majors in queer studies and the rest.
Same here.
I swear that some of these "activists" chose these colleges simply so they can make a big stink when they get kicked out for violating the rules.
I know where North Central is and I'm aware of the type of college it is. If this guy didn't know the profile of the college before we was admitted, he's not very bright.
Or as mentioned above, he's nothing more than an agitator.
Oh man, that's a horrible thought to wake up to. A road trip vacation gone ugly because of bad arrival timing at the Sodom & Gamorah rest stop. Make the images in my brain stop! Please! Aargh!
Meant to say "...before he was admitted...".
Because those sick, demented losers want to make that college the SAME HOMOSEXUAL HELL that they are trying to make the rest of the world!
Take a look at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. They have rejected all government aid so that they don't have to deal with the strings attached to that money.
Absolutely correct.
and yet there will be a "heroic" documentary about the whole trip.
They will report it as if there were thousands even though there were only a handful (and one died of "somthing" along the way)
Gay agenda = bragging about how you have sex with and how you have sex.
Sorry, I really don't care to know who a person has sex with or how. To be honest, it is none of my business. However, when you force me to listen, I will resist.
"Brokeback Bustrip."

LMAO
Actually, it's called Sin and yes it can.
The caravan probably won't make it past the first public men's room.
This is why the Rats are in big trouble. They've tried to build a coalition of groups that are fundamentally opposed to each other. Republicans build their coalitions based on ideas, while the Rats build their on race and other special interests.
That was Mr. Rogers who said he loves you just the way you are. Much as I loved Fred Rogers, he was not God. God says to keep His commandments, and that includes chastity outside of marriage and staying married to a person of the opposite sex if you want to have sex and children.
Reitan's problem isn't with the anti-homosexual universities, it's with the Holy Bible.
I agree. These "gays" say they just want to live in peace, but get in your face with their beliefs, all the while shouting down yours. Get outta my face, and I will leave you alone!!!!!!!!!
