In the hectic, confused hours after Hurricane Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast, Louisiana's governor hesitantly but mistakenly assured the Bush administration that New Orleans' protective levees were intact, according to new video obtained by The Associated Press showing briefings that day with federal officials.
"We keep getting reports in some places that maybe water is coming over the levees," Gov. Kathleen Blanco said shortly after noon on Aug. 29, according to the video. "We heard a report unconfirmed, I think, we have not breached the levee. I think we have not breached the levee at this time."

I HATE THEM ALL for what they have done!
I agree with you completely on that remark.
If you found a tape of every hurricane to come near Louisiana, you'd find this same set of remarks
The AP separately obtained video earlier from other briefings before the hurricane made landfall. That video showed U.S. officials warning that Katrina might breach levees, put lives at risk in New Orleans' Superdome and overwhelm rescuers.
Note that Katrina did not breach levees around New Orleans. The failure was of SEA WALL that failed after the storm had passed. Where are the arrest warrants for the Corps Engineers and Managers who signed off on the construction of those SEA WALLS?

Haven't seen anything on the MSM about this. CNN does not have it on their website, neither does MSNBC. No wonder the public doesn't know about it. FOX News has it though!

"Louisiana's governor hesitantly but mistakenly assured....."
Really fascinating watching the Lib media attempting to run CYA for the Gov on this.
Put the presidents name in there and the mantra would be "mislead", "lied", "attempted to mislead", "lack of communication", etc.
Really predictable.

If I remember correctly, ol' Shep Smith was down there in the French Quarter celebrating with everybody else and actually using the term "dodged a bullet" on Sunday night, wasn't he? And then the floodwalls started to go.

Governor BLANKO...what a loser she's proven to be. Can't believe anyone in the state of Louisiana would elect this lightweight.

Many Catholics, Lutherans and Episcopals put on the ashes out of a sense of deep devotion. There are others who do it as a worldly sign of their idolotry. Landrieu definitely falls in that category.

I agree... Used to live near the canal that broke.
Talking to friend who had a business on the wrong side of the West End Levies, the plan is to close off the canal at Bucktown. Here they are going to put a large pumping station in West End. This will keep the Lake from rising in the Canals. The lake levies are beefy and were not an issue it was the other canals. As you stated.

I saw a pic of that big rusty barge that caused the major levee breach on CNN the other day. It is finally being removed.

I just heard her statement on Fox news. It was not said "hesitatingly". Unbelievable, the lengths the MSM will go to protect this airhead.

So is this video viewable somewhere or is everybody supposed to just take the author's word for it?

The authorities would have to arrest every democrat that was ever involved with the ACOE levee project. That includes John "I haven't done a damn thing for LA"Breaux!
