It's not possible to be a Catholic and actively support the killing of babies.
I don't know what these Dems are, but they are certainly NOT members of the Catholic Church.
To: Aussie Dasher
I ony have heard of a few of these lying weasels, but the ones I have heard of are as "Catholic" as Stalin: Rosa DeLauro, Patrick J. Kennedy, Edward J. Markey, Cynthia McKinney, George Miller, James P. Moran, Nancy Pelosi, and Jose Serrano.
These are all low-lifes whose every deceitful, evil word makes me want to vomit.

BTW, I was born and raised Catholic. I was an alter boy. Parochial school from K-8. In my 20s I figured out the hypocricy.

Here in Chicago, where the Catholic population is supreme yet Democrats rule everything, it is not news.
Catholics Democrats in Illinois have been justifying voting for Democrats with the most extreme pro-abortion views for a long time.
Basically, you say "of course abortion is bad, but..." and then add all the usual cliche' qualifiers to justify not needing to protect the unborn.
Our Attorney General, Lisa Madigan, calls herself a Catholic, and is a fairly militant abortion rights supporter. She even campaigns on using the office to go after those "fake" crisis pregnancy centers which don't offer abortion. She and Gov. Blagojevich have been using all of their power to overturn the "Freedom of Conscience" Act in Illinois, so that they can force Catholic organizations and Pro-Life pharmacists to offer morning after pills and abortion inducers.
"Yeah...what a tragic thing that abortion stuff is....we Catholic Democrats agree.....now give out the morning after pill at St. Mary's Hospital or we'll sue you and shut you down."

This craven "apologia" is surely a sign of election year DUmmie internal polling weakness:
- Pelosi is a signatory, so this must have been cleared with the Senate cadre overlords -- Hillary & Schumer -- two ultra-reliable abortion votes.
- Some of these, most in fact, were presumedly safe seats. A FReeper on another thread commented that a Northern-tier blue state signatory is a reliable pro-life vote.
- Compounding the absurdity is the unwritten preface of the release -- 'please look past our long-standing, reliable votes for abortion on demand'.
- Why? Why would this change anyone's mind? This subject has consistently proven unenticing to swing voter psychology over the years.
Only one conclusion possible: It's an unholy offering to the minions who run and fund these abbatoirs, and also run and fund the campaigns of these 55.

I wish we could get a full list of these CINOS.

And the reason the church doesn't discipline these folks is? These folks would have a very short tenure in a Traditional Catholic parish such as mine.
The mainstream, progressivist Catholic Church appears to be afraid of absolutes such as "Kick the bastards out".

My guess is that a small majority of people who self identify as Roman Catholics probably have no problem with first trimester abortion, and abortion in case of Rape, Incest, or if the mother's life is in danger.
Not obeying the Church's rules, but then again, the same amount probably eat meat at least one of the fridays in lent, too. :-)

As long as your traditional Catholic parish recognizes the Pope, please don't attempt to define a difference where none exists. The progressives own way too much of the franchise for it to be any other way.

It's all about THE MONEY!. Well, I don't accept that. I believe it's one of the many sordid ramifications of Vatican II and its acceptance of relativism and mainstream-ism.
