GREGORY'S GIGGLES: NBCNEWS WHITE HOUSE REPORTER CALLS SHOW 'DRUNK' Thu Mar 02 2006 08:52:09 ET
NBC White House correspondent David Gregory, who apologized last week for calling White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan a "jerk," called into MSNBC's IMUS Thursday morning -- apparently drunk!
Gregory is traveling with the president in India.
IMUS: Let's go to the White House correspondent David Gregory.
DAVID GREGORY: I'm OK.
IMUS: You can calls us later if you want.
GREGORY: [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter]
IMUS: Are you drunk?
GREGORY: [Laughter] [Laughter]
IMUS: Are you all right David?
GREGORY: India is a wonderful language and i've been learning, where's my little sheet here. I've been learning some new phrases to come home. But any way, that being one of them and i just think it's nice.
IMUS: It is.
GREGORY: Thank you.
IMUS: Having a lot of fun there. What's wrong with you?
GREGORY: I just think it's funny. [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter]
CHARLES: He's drunk.
IMUS: He is drunk!
CHARLES: Oh god.
IMUS: Why don't you compose yourself and get back to us. You want to?
GREGORY: [Laughter] [Laughter] [Laughter]
IMUS: What are you in some harrem?
IMUS: What? David?
GREGORY: No, i'm fine.
IMUS: We need a camera.
Oh my lord.
IMUS: Somebody's got --
GREGORY: i was -- remember that movie "Arthur" with Dudley Moore where he just thinks funny things and that's what was going on. If i could find this sheet, actually i just found it. Anyway.
IMUS: You have any news? [Laughter]
IMUS: we got to go, we'll get back to you.
GREGORY: I'm sorry.
IMUS: That's all right.
IMUS: Well, call us back will you?
GREGORY: Anyway. There are serious things going on here which i know you're very interested in.
IMUS: We don't have any time for them now. Quickly.
GREGORY: Big deal between India and the United States. The upshot is we're going to provide nuclear know-how and fuel to india which they need for their economy to grow. But since they never signed the nonproliferation treaty it's a real turn around and critics worry that it sends the wrong message to other parts of the world.
IMUS: Ok.
GREGORY: I would add, i would add that this is how you say thank you.
IMUS: What is it again?
[Speaking foreign language]
IMUS: Well that's great. But we have to go. It's always nice to hear from you.
GREGORY: I'll call you after dinner.
IMUS: NBC Chief White House Correspondant from New Delhi, India. Clearly drunk.
David Gregory should get drunk more often. Much more likable than that self important tamtrum he threws a couple weeks ago. The funny thing is that I have listened to talk radio for so long that I have heard alot of drunk people on the radio.
David Gregory must call Imus's show all the time; the few random times I've listened to Imus he's been on. He sounds drunk ALL the time, so for Imus to have mentioned it, he must have been really bad!
ROFL! I'm not surprised by this. Not in the least.
I just e-mailed this around my list this morning too. LOL
Assuming it is illegal in India. For all I know whatever he was on could be very legal... Either way it is extremely funny and unprofessional...
Takes more than that. I'm still not convinced that was alcohol.
That's AshLEIGH. Don't disrespect the so precious spelling of her name. Whatever did happen to her anyway? I vaguely remember her "Afghanistan is going to blow any minute now!!" reports.
:)
No! No! Not Rove. It's Bush's fault~ lol
He's drunk and in India. What "critics" has David consulted with over this spanking new deal? It couldn't be that David is revealing that the "critics" he so often anonymously cites all live inside his own head, could it?
And leave it to that fossil Imus to try to get him to hang up. He's got a drunk White House correspondent on the phone and he can't get him off the line quick enough. I guess he was worried that he might do some interesting radio by accident.
This is Don Imus... are we sure it was actually Gregory who called in and not an impostor? I wouldn't jump the gun on this one, Imus is notorious for having fake callers imitate famous people as part of his schtick.
"India is a wonderful language"
???
What's the frequency, David?
And no doubt in his private moments Punk Gregory calls Bush "stupid" and a "drunk."
You mean to tell me that a WH Presser did not call me directly when he opened his first drink to tell me that he was going to get drunk?
I can't believe it! I should have been notified, not some crap outfit like IMUS. LOL
"Oui, oui!"
Having taken a few hits off the hookah, perhaps?
LOL! I guess the Diaper Rash Ointment I sent to him put him over the edge. :)
How dare you bring sanity (I came to the same conclusion for the same reasons, BTW) to this Gregory-bashing thread? FR can be irrationally juvenile sometimes.
