March 2, 2006 -- The makers of the gay cowboy flick "Brokeback Mountain" were too rough on sheep, an animal-rights group charged yesterday. In a letter to director Ang Lee, The Humane Society also complained about the way the horses and elk were treated.
"The excessively rough handling of the sheep and horses leaves viewers questioning whether anyone was looking out for the safety of those animals," the letter said.
"And many also wonder how the filmmakers got the elk to lose its footing and crumple to the ground 'on cue' after being shot."
A spokesman for the producer of the Best Picture-nominated movie, Focus Features, had no immediate comment.

"This begs a good joke or two or a hundred."
Apparently three sheep decided to jump off the cliff rather than back up.

And to think the stunt doubles for the sheep were only $11.00 plus S&H (local tax rates apply, void where prohibited
hopefully everywhere)

Kept waiting and didn't see it. Therefore a pair of these are required for sheep abuse.

Hi Gefreiter-
"...We're expecting up to 6" in W. MA but that's over the whole day. The sky now is an unbroken slab of cold slate..."
How does it stay up there since slate is very heavy? My local sky is comprised mostly of nitrogen and oxygen.

It was only a few months ago that a San Francissy "man" died in a hospital after attempting to have sexual relations with a male horse.

If they had been rough on the sheep in the first place, they wouldn't have been so rough on each other. But then, there wouldn't have been a movie.
