Head High, Hamas Member Returns From Israeli Jail By STEVEN ERLANGER
DEIR GHASSANA, West Bank, Feb. 26 — On Sunday, Mahmoud Youssef Barghouti came home to a different kind of reception.
His family and friends traveled to a rainy checkpoint to greet him, pale and bearded in new black jeans and silvery running shoes, which he tried to protect from the mud.
His daughter, Hanin, 12, was in tears, burying her face in his waist; he lifted his son Basel, 5, a serious boy in a crew cut who stared around him. He hugged his wife, Fadia, brushing his lips along the embroidered brown scarf that covered her hair.
Mr. Barghouti, 39, an active member of Hamas, was released at 5:30 a.m. from Ketziot prison, a collection of tents in the Negev, after 14 months of administrative detention by Israel, held without charges.
Ramez Muhtadi, a brother-in-law, laughed and said, "Mahmoud went to prison in opposition, and he comes out in the majority." And his village came out to greet him, too, flush with the bright-green tinge of Hamas's smashing victory in the Palestinians' legislative elections on Jan. 25.

Simply being a member of Hamas is reason for detention. If you believe the article, he had nothing to do with suicide bombings, he was just a party member.
I'm actually impressed by the graveside visit, and it helps me believe the story. The guy had been killed in a clash with Israeli soldiers instead of having been a suicide bomber (IMNSHO whose remains should be incinerated and randomly buried in landfills). In a fight for freedom (as they have framed it), I consider a straight-up fight with other soldiers as honorable, even if they're not on our side.

He must have just been in charge of refreshments for the Death to Israel rallies.
Even Sinn Fein had its political and military arms. Not saying he's a good guy. If he had been in jail about a suicide bombing I'd say a sniper should have put a bullet in his head just before he passed through the gate.
And a drone should fly over it and give him a free ticket to "Allah"!
