Whose children will be allowed to participate in the White Houses annual Easter Egg Roll on April 17? Not the sons and daughters of gay parents, if the Christian right gets its way.
In November, when the Family Pride Coalition, a D.C.-based gay rights advocacy group, invited its members to participate in one of the great traditions of our country the religious right sprang into action. The Institute on Religion and Democracy, a religious think tank, accused the Family Pride Coalition of trying to exploit a childrens event for political purposes. Even the White House has weighed in.
~~snip~~
The Christian right blogosphere is afire, condemning the presence of gay parents on the White House lawn as nearly terrorist threats from the homo lobby. One post suggests that White House psychologists should be deployed to help the children of gay parents and implies that they are molested in their homes. Another wishes the gays good luck, reminding readers that the Secret Service carries automatic weapons.
Such posts are, of course, those of the individual posters to http://www.FreeRepublic.com, and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of its operators. The site claims 200,000 registered members, known as Freepers, and a daily readership of tens of thousands. Free Republic, founded in 1996, has been embraced by right-wing social conservatives as the online water cooler for patriots who are biased toward God, country, family, liberty and freedom.
Or at least liberty and freedom for some. These lowlife scum should just be mowed down like terrorists, writes one good Christian.

"You're painting with too broad a brush. Your comment is not only inaccurate, it is blatantly unfair."
Well, tell it to the Big Brother program, not me. I'm just relating what I learned from one of their employees who is a liberal. For what it's worth, during the month I visited, she had to turn down two different homos who had tried unsuccessfully to join the Big Brother program in other states. Two in a month.
I believe my eyes. Not one gay person I have ever known is stable. Not ONE.
Curious that "In These Times" would worry about Easter.
Curious that "In These Times" would worry about Easter.
Agreed. But I don't go into the 'hate speech' or 'thought crime' thing. How someone feels is, like it or not, hwo they feel.
The article author intentionally misquoted her to make us look bad. I wonder if she can sue? Use the lefts own weapons against them. Would this count as slander or libel?
You don't know what you are talking about.
Its unfortunate that some freepers will rise to the bait and provide infamable quotations but how seriously can we take the good intentions of an organization dedicated to undermining "traditional" observances.
Free speech outweighs "tolerance", or at least it should, and if "FamilyPride" or whatever their name is where truly interested in Christian values they would understand that to err is human and to forgive divine.
But then to forgive would not advance their agenda, and ultimately isn't that what this article is all about?
Perhaps more troublesome for the big picture, is the effect on the majority who DON'T get lost, since they'll grow up thinking it's normal for children to be raised by the state, and be very grateful to the state for at least feeding and housing them, since nobody else was offering to. Want to take a guess as to how these kids will vote as soon as they get old enough? Do you think they'll EVER vote to cut back government welfare programs?
"Whose children will be allowed to participate in the White House's annual Easter Egg Roll on April 17? The sons and daughters of sodomites, if the radical left gets its way."
Okay, what kind of furor would be created were the lead written this way?
Actually they've had a number of extreme statements covered by the Wall Street Journal in proper context. Sometimes (but not always) it shames the DU into pulling a thread altogether.
No, I don't think it would be slander or libel but you can see by the quote how words can be taken out of context to make people or a whole group look like nuts.
Wow. Didn't know that.
It is not a matter of "who's gonna sue". It is a matter of what is right. You are arguing that it is alright to abuse children as long as the is no accountability, nor anyone to defend them.
Well, I don't know that there is an "official" Free Republic position on anything as each poster expresses his own ideas and positions, but I've stated my own personal opinion on homosexualism vs our God given rights here:

I have the statistics somewhere in my vast collection :-) I'll try to find them as quickly as possible and post the information.
But, I think I already spotted where you are going wrong. You mention same sex molestation at 35%. Did you realize that same sex molestation is committed by people who are married and consider themselves to be heterosexual?? Weird but true!!
Hmmmm. Remind me again why these folks think it necessary to make a statement about their rectal frolics at the WH Easter egg roll?
Stay away from the chocolate ones....
Always find it funny how the Leftist Losers never post the story that Freepers were responding to. It was a story calling for the Gay activists to "STORM" the Easter Egg Hunt this year. Of Course the usual Leftist Lurkers simply censored OUT that part since it would not do for them to acctually tell the truth about what the Freepers were reseponding to while trying to grossly misrepresent what the Freepers were saying. Typical slime bag Leftism.
