The Nation -- So much for freedom of speech, let alone thought.
The play My Name Is Rachel Corrie, directed in London by actor Alan Rickman and due to open in New York City in March, has been canceled for fear of controversy.
The play adapts the diaries of the 23-year-old woman from Seattle who was murdered in Rafah in 2003, when she was deliberately run down by an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer. Rachel had traveled to the Gaza Strip during the last intifada as an activist for the International Solidarity Movement.
My Name Is Rachel Corrie has enjoyed two sell-out runs in London at the Royal Court Theatre and great critical acclaim; it was due to open at the New York Theatre Workshop in the East Village.

I guess Yahoo don't need no stinking murder conviction!

Is that a second ZOT for Rachel? The first one seemed definitive when done by a big cat.

Hi All- The one economical thing that resulted from Rachel Corrie's death is that her remains were returned to her parents using flat-rate postage.

A 23 year old girl/woman couldn't get out of the way of a bulldozer? refrain from intentionally getting in the way of a bulldozer?

The Joe Brown movie?Yeah, "Earthworm Tractors". The movie was based on the Alexander Botts stories.
There were a lot of stories of Botts, the natural born salesman, published in the Saturday Evening Post. All told, there were over 100 of them. The series started in 1920. The film was made in 1936.
Now, you have all the information you didn't want to know.

If it's been cancelled it's because nobody wanted to see it. Controversy usually helps ticket sales.

From the linked article...."
During a period of such intense reflection about freedom of speech and the so-called "clash of civilizations," the play's cancellation is a useful reminder of the forces at work in constructing and limiting America's freedom to access the views and experiences even of other Americans."
OK, so the new term for not supporting liberal leftist propaganda is....."...limiting Armeican's freedom to access ....views and experiences...>/u>"
First there were the freedoms (including free speech) guaranteed in the US Bill of Rights, then there were the "rights and freedoms" created by the left....freedom to view nude dancers (as it is expression after all!), the freedom to kill near term unwanted babies (partial-birth abortion is a right of privacy, which while not explicit in the Bill of Rights is really important to some), and now we have the freedom to access the views and experiences of others, which means that we must subsidize "politically correct" propaganda.
How disgusting.

has been canceled for fear of controversy.Oldest trick in the book - - say that your play is too "controversial" and "had to be cancelled" and let some scumbag or another (in this case, The Nation) fan the flames. It'll be back, just like that talking vagina thing or whatever.
To: Pheadra
Let's say in Iraq there is a known "safe-house" where known terrorists hide out. The military go there to blow it up and you know it is coming so you go stand in front of the house to protect it. You get blown up too. You are not a "victim", you are a "suicide". I hope this explains it for you.
