I've been doing stuff myself since moving into our little "cottage." I usually start much earlier, but quit earlier.
I hung a lot of pictures and put up a few of our shelves this past weekend. Hung a new curtain rod I got for my bedroom.
Had an electrical outlet installed in the bathroom. Those old bathrooms only had one outlet right above the medicine cabinet. Anyone who uses a hair dryer or electric razor knows that is not good enough.
It makes you feel good when you can look back on how much you managed to get accomplished.
