This poll is not even close to being reasonable in the sample selection:

UNWEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018
Total Republicans 272 27%
Total Democrats 409 40%
Total Independents 337 33%

WEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018
Total Republicans 289 28%
Total Democrats 381 37%
Total Independents 348 34%

In the Nov. 2004 election, the split was even between Dems and Repubs. This poll gives the Dems a 32% advantage (based on 28% Repub and 37% Dem of Total Pop).

As long as the Dems keep believing these faulty polls they will continue to be disappointed on election day.

What about the 58% of Republicans against Bush over the ports deal?

I think more people are identifying themseleves as democrats and independents. The polls are accurate.

What a comedy act. Nothing more predictable than the bogus MSM polls that come out as soon as they think they've got Bush on the ropes. And then they react with shock and dismay when the actual elections are different than their lying polls. I personally have gotten to the point where I like these polls coming out, because it makes the democrat pain even worse when they lose every election.

Repubs seem to be difficult to find. Probably not home washing down their oxycontin with box wine. (not that there is anything wrong with box wine)

I thought they just called all Democrats in NYC. These people are useless as a news organization. Just another propaganda arm of the Democrat organization.

there was an interesting article a week or so ago about independent voters. Seems when you look at independents you find that there are very few true independents out there. May be 10% of the voting age population. Most of the independents are indpendents leaning Republican or leaning democrat. According to this study there are signifiantly more independents leaning Democrat. Unfortunately for the Dems they and true independents have very low turn out rates.
