Calhoun was stridently oppossed to Jackson's policies though. A little bit of a difference here.

The last vice-president to leave office early other than by death or coming indictment... Given Dick's past health history and his role in the Valerie Plame scandal, I'd hate to be on Cheney's end of a bet regarding either of these factors.
