Prosecution: attacker on synagogue is sane and deserves life imprisonment

Prosecution has finished investigation of armed assault on people of the Moscow synagogue in January 11. The accused, Alexander Koptsev, confessed in the crime, so case will be transferred to the court in near future, stated Moscow Prosecutor Anatoly Zuyev. The crime has been investigated for around three weeks. During the investigation, one discovered the circumstances of the attack and reasons of Koptsev’s actions. The investigators questioned his relatives, classmates, teachers, and found “nothing abnormal”. The investigation also found that Koptsev had no accomplices, and that he was sane in the moment of the attack disregarding his present schizophrenic disorder, so he can be a subject of criminal responsibility. Zuyev also promised to improve the work on prevention of extremist literature spreading, including seizure from book shops.

20-year-old Koptsev is accused of murder attempt on religious and national animosity that can lead to life imprisonment. Legal investigation of the case will take place in Moscow City Court. Koptsev can ask for jury, informs RSN.
