USA MEDALIST VIDEO MONTAGE
At the 2006 Torino Games, the U.S. earned 24 medals -- 9 gold, 9 silver, 7 bronze -- for by far its best total ever at a Winter Olympics on foreign snow and ice.

Brokaw: "The White captain abandons the black soldiers."
"Let me say it for you, the white captain scooted, he got outta there." Nudge, nudge.

Every time I walk into the room, I'm hearing about "white commanders." "White commanders sent them on a suicide mission!" Tom, do you think the *white commanders* might want the mission objectives to be accomplished? Do you think maybe it's a testament to their faith in these soldiers that they sent them on such crucial missions? As if white soldiers were not sent into harm's way either.

My dad was a veteran of Italy. I am sorry he didn't live to hear Berlusconi thank the Americans for liberating Italy.
You know, just when you think we could be making some progress and forgetting about race, someone like Brokaw has to bring it back up.
