Brokaw: "a suicide mission they were sent on by their white officers"
Does he have proof that the officers chose black troops over white troops for this mission???

You are so right. They've gone downhill since "The Dream Team," haven't they?

Somehow I didn't feel that I missed anything. Sure you did -- 418 hours of coverage broken down as follow:
- 300 hours commercials
- 110 hours background stories and interviews
- 8 hours event coverage
I bet you feel bad for missing it, huh?

Where is Clinton doing that?
And why is this Tom Brokaw thing on? It clearly says on the NBC Olympic page that the ceremony starts now!

I tuned into some of the ice skating. Man, you'da thought it was American Idol the way the announcers were all trying to be like Simon. They were ripping into those skaters, pretty petty stuff I thought.

I thought we were going to hear how this man helped to liberate Torino, but Brokaw has decided to remind us how racist America was/is. Groan.

You are right about that. Dick Button was horrible. At least Simon Cowell is entertaining. Dick was just annoying.

Let's see...we all want to see our athletes and be proud of our country, so OF COURSE we have to hear about racism and also see Bill CLinton handing this guy a medal of honor.
I am certain this gentleman is a true hero, and this story should have been in a special devoted to WWII, not stuck in at the beginning of the Olympics.

Where is Clinton doing that? Brokaw is showing footage from the 90s when Vernon Baker finally received his Medal of Honor. Brokaw showed more of Clinton than was necessary, IMO.

It clearly says on the NBC Olympic page that the ceremony starts now! Didn't they say the same about the opening cerimonies--supposed to start at 8pm, but they pushed it back to 9pm.

I Tivo'ed all of it so I could fast forward thru the ads. I highly recommend this for future Olympic games. The only problem watching it delayed is sometimes I found out the winners before I watched.
But I hate TV ads. So it was the lesser than two evils.

They sure have. The Olympic games that I have enjoyed the most are those that were played under "classic" rules - The 72 games, scarred by the murder of the Israeli athletes but redeemed for me by Mark Spitz; the awesome performance of the US hockey team at Lake Placid in 80; and the summer games in LA in 84. 88 must not have made much of an impression on me, since I don't really have any great memories from that year. Anything since has been a pale copy of what the Olympics used to be.
