Don Knotts, star of 'The Andy Griffith Show,' dead at 81

Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills.

Interestingly enough the show was a spinoff from Danny Thomas - Make Room for Daddy. IIRC. Danny got stopped for speeding in Mayberry. I can't recall for certain if Barn was in that episode, but I think he was. You are correct that it was a spinoff from "Make Room For Daddy," but Barney wasn't in that episode, only Andy was.

Just heard on KFI, during the break of Rush's show...actor Dennis Weaver has died from cancer. He was 81.
I didn't start a new post, as I can't find it on Yahoo, and I've received no further confirmation.
I guess he's the third...along with Don Knotts and Darren McGavin. Almost the third in three days.
