On Sunday, the Australian government issued the following alert to its citizens: "We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in the United Arab Emirates because of the high threat of terrorist attack. We continue to receive reports that terrorists are planning attacks against Western interests in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Commercial and public areas frequented by foreigners are possible terrorist targets." This is not the kind of country that the USA should be doing business with at all, much less letting them take control of operations at 22 USA ports.

Of course the UAE is being threatened. I would guarantee that Iran is kicking up the threats. Does Iran want the United States to tighten up our friendship. No. Iran would like the UAE to kick us out so we lose our military advantage with the Air Force base and the U.S.S. Kittyhawk port facility.
The Iranians might also be behind the latest attempt to hit a major oil field in Saudi Arabia. And, there is talk that they are also behind the Mosque bombings in Iraq.
We need to shut up and stand behind the United Arab Emirates.

Look at it a different way, though . . . If that same Australian government that has issued a travel advisory warning its citizens traveling to the UAE has not expressed concern over the acquisition of P&O Ports by the UAE-owned company (P&O operates a number of port terminals in Australia), then why should the U.S. use this travel advisory serve as any kind of indicator when reviewing the proposed acquisition?

For my way of thinking...the problem,is the infiltration of undesirables that will arrive under the UAE banner....here is the way I see it....the contract is given to the UAE, following shortly thereafter, a cadre of management personnel will arrive to setup the management offices....
Of course, the language of the office will be UAE's native language, as there is a very small pool of US citizens who speak the language....a few 1000 UAE citizens will have to be recruited and flown out to operate the offices.
Down at the docks, the working language will soon drift from English to Arabic, mainly because the foremen, will be unable to speak English.....
So in a few years the docks will become, little Dubais...no one will have a head count of who works there, be it friend or foe.....

"Handing U.S. port security to UAE is terrible idea"
Yes! It is an awful idea- Whew- close one!
OTOH- no it isn't that was *never* part of the deal- that is only hysterical ranting by fools.

You watch what's going to happen with this:
One of these days, a UAE flagged container-boat is going to come to a UAE operated port, and a couple of weeks later, some UAE port guy is going to stroll over to one or more of the containers the boat carried and open them/it. Instantly a fully fueled F-16 that the U.S.A. sold to the UAE will zoom out and begin attacking all across the U.S.
I dare anybody to name one U.S.A. operated (not owned) port. Just one, anywhere in the world. When was the last time any port in the world was operated by the U.S.A?
Don't know? I'm alarmed that you don't know that.
