If you want to apply your standards consistently, we'd have to stop trade with all U.S. companies as well.
Could you possibly explain how some administrative home-office employee in the UAE is going to impact our port security? I mean specifically. Port security is our responsibility and independent of the civilian contractors we use to direct traffic at our ports. Already, most shipping containers arrive on foreign container ships. Even much of our military pre-positioning equipment is carried on foreign ships. Many of our ports are run by foreign companies. And here's a big newsflash, they have been throughout our war on terror. Who do you think was responsible for the ports where we unloaded all the equipment for our operations in Iraq?

We have so many actors & politicians siding with the terrorists I've lost track. Every criminal in the US has its public supporters too. Patty Murray was particularly offensive, right after 9/11.
The fact that Al Quada is admitting this may be because Al Quada wants any deal that brings $ into a muslim country stopped and not becuae they have actually infiltrated the UAE government. It's easier to recruit and to stir agitation with the poor and oppressed in the M.E. than the well of and satiated. Just a thought....

Make me a list. I want to see who would offer protection without asking the UAE to "put out". And that's "put out" oil or be blackmailed. Really, show me the list.
i'm not a terrorist planner, but i will give it a try.
suppose al qaeda is shipping some sort of bomb into the US, with plans to blow up a major port city. suppose the feds get a warning from an informer, but the informer doesn't know the exact date of the shipment or which city is targeted.so our security people want to go through shipping records to try to home in on it.
now if al qaeda has a few sympathyzers working for the ports company in dubai, they could easily alter records to throw our security people off track.
someone with more knowledge about port operations than i have could probably lay out other scenarios.
The people against this Dubai Port deal are getting more pathetic by the second.
