I saw the interview Street did with Matt Lauer on Friday morning on the Today show - before Mancuso's race. Street was actually doing a great job at commentating until she got to the Mancuso part. Street was with NBC as an "expert commentator". She made the Mancuso remarks sort of offhandedly but it did come off tacky and very unprofessional. Lauer didn't delve into her comments and moved on.
Lo and behold, Mancuso comes back and wins a gold. Street is looking very petty and much the idiot today.

Lots of people are getting their heads handed to them during these games.
But why did she say she should "take the tiara off?" Because Street still wants to wear it?

Or maybe Street's comments were the kick in the butt Mancuso needed.

If you read the story about Mancuso staying up very late the night before her race, her sister not preparing the meal as promised and Mancuso eating a pop tart instead, Mancuso losing her credentials, and of course wearing that ridiculous tiara, you can see how Street would be annoyed.
If Mancuso had not medalled everyone would be bashing her big time, much as they bashed Weir for his fiasco.
