Apparently he punched out an acquaintance in a bar fight. Between the lines, alcohol was probably involved. Too bad.

Hi OS and all,

My husband and I just heard Picabo Street call Mancuso "unprofessional".
She also told her to "take off the tiara". It was appalling. Apparently
it's fashionable for elitist liberals to not only bash our President, our country
and our military, but now our olympians.

Street is a typical liberal. Thinks she can decide who's hot and who's not.
This was VERY trailer trash.

I do believe that Ms. Mancuso earned the right to wear a tiara if she wants to...

I am kind of surprised about Picabo...I had always heard that she was kind of eclectic....but, I guess not.

She must have become an elitest sell-out.

For being in the "middle of nowhere"...it sounds like you are in the mecca of Russian star skaters...

Almost immediately after the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, a big group of them - headlined by Viktor Petrenko and his wife, his brother and mother-in-law (they are figure skating coaches), Oksana Baiul, Gordeeva & Grinkov, and a few others I can't remember - settled around Simsbury, CT because of the building of the Int'l Skating Center of Connecticut. I can't remember exactly how they were actually lured here from Russia and/or the Ukraine.

My how things have changed....I remember when a "Soviet Union" athlete would have to seek asylum to leave the country...

I do too. Everytime I watch any of the Olympic games, I marvel over how things have changed so much over the years. Remember the Russian and East German gymnasts and figure skaters with their awful, poor-looking costumes, terrible hairstyles and sullen faces? As a kid, I always felt sorry for these young athletes, forced to live behind the Iron Curtain. Yikes, I'm dating myself here... ;-)

I'm glad she had the sense to take it off while our national anthem was playing though...

I'm up too late again... must call it a night. Nice talking to you, Txsleuth! I will most likely be here on the live thread tomorrow night. Good night... :o)

Mancuso's interview was straight forward and
yes, professional. She didn't act like a "Princess"
at all. Picabo is a Deva who can't accept the
idea there's a new kid in town. Ha Haaaa!

I am watching NBC right now. The Street comment
came just before they showed the first GS heat.

I have to say NBC has done a really great job with presenting these Torino Games here in the USA.
I could not imagine any better of a job being done .
Thanks NBC! I have enjoyed this all very much.

Bob Costas was a total idiot for pushing this "make a date with "The Flying Tomato" thing while interviewing Sasha Cohen. Sasha Cohen handled it well but it was clear she was angry. What a real idiot Costas is.

Let's hear it for Bode Miller, the biggest dud in US Olympics history !! I love it when the media boost someone and they come crashing down to earth. That'll teach the guy to keep his mind off booze and women and keep it on skiing !! What a waste of talent. THUMP.

Did I hear them say he got in trouble again last night? Out partying?

I just don't get all the hype about Costas; everything I've ever seen him in is just horrible.

He just blew his last chance for a medal at the games....0 for 5

And I always think about the person who qualified AFTER him -- the one who had to stay home that would have at least put their heart and soul into the games.

Miller was the world champion in 2005, you would think he would have got ONE medal in five events.

I saw the interview Street did with Matt Lauer on Friday morning on the Today show - before Mancuso's race. Street was actually doing a great job at commentating until she got to the Mancuso part. Street was with NBC as an "expert commentator". She made the Mancuso remarks sort of offhandedly but it did come off tacky and very unprofessional. Lauer didn't delve into her comments and moved on.

Lo and behold, Mancuso comes back and wins a gold. Street is looking very petty and much the idiot today.

Lots of people are getting their heads handed to them during these games.

But why did she say she should "take the tiara off?" Because Street still wants to wear it?

Outside of those caught doping, Miller's performance has to be the biggest Olympic disgrace in recent memory. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy...
