I'm here to tell you that outside of FR and some of the talk shows, no one GIVES A DAMN about the ports. It ranks up there with the Winter Olympics in terms of interest. I know the die-hards just don't get that, but it's reality.
I would disagree with you, the port deal has been water cooler conversation at my work off and on all week. About 2/3 against and most critical of GW.
You're wrong on that one. I've been hearing people who rarely talk about politics discussing this issue.
Maybe in your little world but from what I see and hear; the man-on-the-street is upset, big time!
Keep dreaming. This article is spot on. If the RATS run anyone even remotely normal, coherent, and not completely out of their minds, they will win.
I disagree with your assessment that no one cares about the ports issue. My husband is apolitical, (gotta love him), and he likes to post to woodworking sites, his hobby. He says there are many off topic comments about this issue and the general consensus is that UAE should not get control of the ports, or at least it merits more than a rubber stamp. Some long time Bush fans are also losing faith in W, and this will rub off in a bad way on the party.
Yeah, but GWB is doing a bang-up job of trying to wreck the front end. Why in the world does he keep grinding wrenches?
"I'm here to tell you that outside of FR and some of the talk shows, no one GIVES A DAMN about the ports. It ranks up there with the Winter Olympics in terms of interest."
This is not true. People in my office who never have anything to say about political stuff and who are mostly Republican have been talking and grumbling about this all week. My parents, who are in their mid-eighties and have never for a moment considered voting anything but Republican, are steamed at Pres. Bush.
Got to disagree. When my in-laws want to call DC to register their outrage, it is a new day.
You don't spring something like this on Americans after 9/11, and after having their sons and daughters slaughtered in Iraq and Afghanistan by 12th century muslim mutants without preparing them with positive information and proving that you have done a thorough background check and have established US sovereignty and security matters!
Whether it goes through or not Bush has surrendered the greatest conservative advantage over liberals, that of being strong on national defense. When you hand a bitch like Hitlery Crintoon a chance to step up to the mike and excoriate conservatives for having surrounded our national security by insanity, you have just slit the throats of every GOP politician running in 2006.
Why do you imagine all these GOP pols have divorced themselves from Bush on this and run for the hills? Because they have to run again and he doesn't.
It's not a question of right or wrong, but a question of future survival, b ioth politically and culturally.
The biggest problem I have is that the liberal intelligentsia and RINOS don't grasp the fact that Muslims are savages still living in the 12th century. That their goal is kill all Christians and Jews. That they are NOT able to coexist peaceably with other cultures and religions. That they are genetically mutated to violence, evil, and sadism. And that they will continue this violence against us, out children and all future generations forever. They will not rest until they have murdered you and your family.
That nice friendly Muslim family down the block will be the first ones at your door with scimitars the day these savages take over the US. Act now, or bear the consequences of your inaction!
When someone makes a prediction like that -- on either side -- I gotta say, "Show me the races!"
Also, if you lived in one of the port cities, like I do, you'd see that people care very much about who's running the ports.
"After Harriet Miers, all I heard was, "The Republicans are finished." Sorry, they are stronger than ever."
You stick with this, maybe someone will believe you.
LOL...I believe you are so right on, love to hear your take on all that's GOP...
The only thing people I know have talked about MORE than the ports is the weather. Other than that it's been the dominant topic of conversation this week. It's something that everyone can understand, and it seems awfully disturbing to a great many people.
