George W. Bush is about to fritter away his party's last advantage.

George W. Bush is about to fritter away his party's last advantage. What Republicans have had going for them is that they aren't Democrats. Over the past few days we've seen the men at the top of the Grumpy Old Party drifting toward something that looks suspiciously like an Old Boys' Party. When he hears applause only from Jimmy Carter, who gave away the Panama Canal (now controlled by the Chinese), and Bill Clinton, his newly adopted little brother, George W. should be looking for the panic button. Once they're no longer regarded as the toughest party on national security the Republicans will be burnt toast.

I prefer a party known for its enemies than a party known for these 'friends'. I need a party whose enemies are spendthrifts, petty tyrants, libertines and never-do-wells. That ain't the Republicans.

Apparently Mr. Pruden is unaware that Saudi Arabia has operated port facilities in the USA since 1983.

Apparently Mr. Pruden is unaware that the dealings of the review committee are secret, as mandated by a law enacted by Congress in the 90's.

Apparently Mr. Pruden ignores the fact that Dubai services navy ships at their own port, and are an important strategic partner in the Middle East.

Well, I am astounded that Mr. Pruden hasn't done his homework. I would have expected better of him.

Your agenda is so transparent.....go hug the UAE. I'm sure they'll reward you for your "support."

They should but they've been shilling this story for a week now. I know this, I hope whoever the strategist for the Democrats that thought this little gem up get's a big fat bonus. Why make yourself look foolish when you can get others to do it for you.

Sure....what research have YOU done? I knew the Bushbots would be in a full-scale attack mode if I posted anything that is slightly different from the administration's views. Tough luck....the Bushbots were thoroughly discredited after the Harriet Miers fiasco. Let us see what happens here.

Corporate interests no longer take a backseat to anything, including national security. So it goes.

Bush is drifting off that page where Presidents like Lincoln, Washington, Eisenhower are mentioned, and will soon end up sharing a paragraph with Benedict Arnold. I don't object to a bought politician; I have little experience with any other kind; but, I do object when the man sells himself to those who would do his constituents harm.

If it is true (and I must assume that it is) that both Bush and Rumsfeld learned about this deal only through the newspapers, then it is difficult to imagine that there has been a significant upgrade of our intelligence capabilities.

Anybody who looks at your posting history will see that you post the same stuff on each thread. Talk about agenda....looks like the Kool Aid is particularly potent this morning.

Funny.

Another editorial today says that the rest of the anti-Bush media elite is now starting to understand that there is nothing wrong with the deal.

You mean the way some people are quick to forget that DP World and Dubai are critical elements in the logistics support for our troops fighting the war? Or how we trust them to provide services and support for the largest contingent of U.S. Navy vessels outside the U.S...including our European so-called friends?

It's almost too easy, isn't it fellow "usual culprit?" ROTFL!!

Then again, I'm not sure why I find such collective ignorance so amusing. This really is a serious matter. But I guess laughing keeps me from crying.

Yes, General Tommy Franks and Colonel Ollie North are such regular bushbots.

Bushbot: anyone who can't think of six new reasons to hate President Bush by noon each day.

Real Conservative: someone who can.

True Conservative: one of the eight people who can and who purchased pat buchanan's last book.

Why not put an end to this and have some non-controversial company that everybody can agree on operate the ports?

You know, like....um....Halliburton.

They BOTH learned that the deal was officially announced through media reports. They were both kept in the loop as this investigation was taking place. Become informed.

I'm here to tell you that outside of FR and some of the talk shows, no one GIVES A DAMN about the ports.

Maybe in your little world but from what I see and hear; the man-on-the-street is upset, big time!
