George W. Bush is about to fritter away his party's last advantage. What Republicans have had going for them is that they aren't Democrats. Over the past few days we've seen the men at the top of the Grumpy Old Party drifting toward something that looks suspiciously like an Old Boys' Party. When he hears applause only from Jimmy Carter, who gave away the Panama Canal (now controlled by the Chinese), and Bill Clinton, his newly adopted little brother, George W. should be looking for the panic button. Once they're no longer regarded as the toughest party on national security the Republicans will be burnt toast.

There is only, IMHO, one way that this issue could conceivably help the Dems, and that is if it's made into a UNION issue, but even then, people are intrinsically anti-union.
Yet the Saudi national shipping company has run ports here since 1997.
No, they bid on that contract from the company that already has the contracts. Singapore also bid, DP World won the bid.
I've already told you that I didn't establish those procedures, so I'm not second-guessing them. I think it's my right and obligation to get the facts and to hold my elected officials accountable. I certainly don't think that's a waste of time.
You must mean the Arab country that we already rely upon for the port operations that provide logistics support to our troops fighting this war. That Arab country that maintains the largest port services for U.S. Navy ships of any nation outside of the U.S.
That Arab nation that General Tommy Franks considers our valued friend in the WoT. That Arab nation right?
Yes, stopping every financial contract within the U.S. that involves foreign companies until everyone is totally happy wouldn't be a waste of time...it would be economic suicide.
You keep citing Tommy Franks as the standard. I hold Tommy Franks in very high regard. His opinion carries a lot of weight with me. However, Tommy Franks' opinion (as knowledgeable and informed as it may be) is just that. Maybe I could be an honorary Missourian, because I want my President and representatives to SHOW ME.
It is the money...the whole fabricated non-crisis is being driven by the unions.
I wish this administration had been willing to invest this much energy and political capital in fundamental tax reform.
Your projection is just that ...projection. As for cults, enjoy worshipping with the Liberals.
I would disagree with you, the port deal has been water cooler conversation at my work off and on all week. About 2/3 against and most critical of GW.
It was a total loser from the very beginning. Hard to understand why no one in the White House could see that.
Let's see what will be done to you when Democrats gain control and trust me they will. After the Left tested you guys with this Port story, they are patting each other on the back as I type.
Have fun when they are elected and take control but do not think they will give you credit for their win.
You apparently don't understand what I have said or you're intentionally misrepresenting my position. Go back to the beginning of the thread, open your eyes and read what I have said.
I never advocated stopping every financial contract that involves foreign companies until everyone is totally happy with it. You are being absurd and misleading by suggesting that that is what I want.
I am simply trying to hold my leaders accountable. I will not stick my head in the sand and trust Big Government to know what's best for me. When I have questions, I will ask them. That is every citizen's right, duty and obligation.
The government exists to serve me and my fellow citizens. We do not exist to serve the government. We are all part owners of the government. The primary function of the federal government is to provide for national defense. That concerns every one of us. If the government is taking an action that we don't understand, we should ask our leaders for an explanation. That isn't a "waste of time", as you put it. That is democracy and it is NOT a spectator sport.
Of course, the way the media has been portraying it...like we are giving them control of our ports, which is not really the case.
