DP is buying the company that already has the contracts.

And the folks who are upset because President Bush did not know about this specific transaction, do not seem to care that local politicians are/were not aware of who are at present handling these contracts in the ports.

The amount of openly expressed ignorance has been very disturbing.

Yet, we are told ad nauseam by the same officials, that there are no security issues.

Which begs yet another question: Why did Congress make these proceeding secret in the first place? Even shareholders have a right to know what is going on, and how does a public presentation of these applications in any way endanger security?

Perhaps they simply do not want the public to know that they have sold off (ok they leased for 30 years) major chunks of the publically owned assests of our nation.
