Maybe they think if they can get enough of the independent, so-called "Conservative" fringe on their side, they can get the ol' impeachment thing going.

America can't interfere with this sale, despite the best efforts of Congress to use this issue to grandstand on. The sale of P&O to DPW is a sure bet. I don't want us to try to interfere with the sale. We have no authority to do that. Neither of the companies are American.
I want us to block the assignment of the port management contracts from P&O to DPW. Congress can and, in my opinion, should do that. I'm not sure if they will. Those are American strategic assets and Congress has every right to determine if it is appropriate for a particular foreign government owned company to operate them.
If the assignment gets blocked, if I were in DPW shoes, I would strongly consider reneging on the deal because P&O was unable to deliver the contracts. At a very minimum, I would be demanding a price reduction because I wasn't getting what was advertised. My guess is that the deal would collapse and P&O would find themselves looking for a new buyer. See my post 268 to see who that might be.

Thus, the talking heads at the Pentagon today would say the moon was made of green cheese if that were the line that the White House wanted to tout. Not a single one of them would utter a peep about the wrong headedness of this decision, thus having them as guests on administration talk shows (we all know who they are)only prove this thesis. I'll bet a month's gross pay that if one were to ask the same intentional softball questions of a ''real'' intelligence or operations type from the interpretive or planning levels, and the interview subject officer didn't care that his future would be in ruins the instant he gave a truthful answer, the response would be totally different from that of those ''perfumed princes'' at the feet of the secretary of defense. Sounds familiar.

And a whole lot of locals would become unemployed.

I am not even sure when Arator came on the scene. He had a good side. He also had a Kooky side. And when he did...He was thoroughly debunked. Over all I trusted getting the real scoop on an issue back then because I always knew that that there were many intelligent people with amazing resources who would do there best to get to the truth. At the same time- They put the preservation of there country first and were not led astray by things like the prospect of financial gain.

Someone ought to clue in the Port Authority that American Stevedoring located at the Newark Terminal is wholly owned by the Saudi Arabia Shipping Company Do you have a source for this? Maybe a 10Q or 10K? From what I've been able to tell, "The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia" is the only designated Saudi maritime company doing business in the US, and it appears that their stevedoring contracts are presently handled by P&O (now DP World, interestingly enough).
In addition, all I could locate on Edgar (after an admitedly quickie search) about American Stevedoring was the following:
"Sabato Catucci . . . is the founder of American Warehousing and American Stevedoring ("American") and has been American's Chief Executive Officer since 1965. American currently runs the Redhook Marine Terminal for the City of New York and The Port Authority of NY/NJ, as well as the majority of the piers on the Brooklyn waterfront."
"Sabato Catucci" doesn't sound Saudi Arabian. : )

Sorry about that. Your comment could be taken either way. I based my interpretaion of it on who you were repying to and the fact that everyone was attacking that person. Again- Sorry I misunderstood you.

"Why are you so quick to call people ignorant and idiots?"
You know the answer; that is the final refuge of people who have no facts. Yesterday they were talking about Chicom ownership of ports conveniently ignoring the fact that NO people of Chinese extraction crashed airplanes on 9-11.

No kidding. Did you know Kingdoms work better that way? Apparently, the kings (emirates) get to do all sorts of things without approval!! Can't believe how backward we are.

Now the enemy of your "America" is the taxpaying American worker and your friend is the Arab-Muslim nation that supported Osama bin Laden You are delusional. I guess Gen Tommy Franks endorsement of DPWorld makes him an osama supporter.

General Frank was just called an Arab appeaser on another thread. Of course that poster's knowledge of the situation and concern for our troops entrusted to UAE ports is far superior to the Generals.

Franks.

The thought has occurred to me that if the (soon-to-be) future administration of Hillary Clinton had done this deal, those who are pro-administration in this debate would be screaming - let me restate that for emphasis: SCREAMING - that it was a sellout of national security.
Just as they did (and justifiably so) when it was discovered how the previous Clinton administration had sold nuclear technology to China and North Korea.
The port sellout is a bad idea, regardless of which administration does it. Why the rush to get it done? Why NOT have an open investigation as to what might really be going on here?
Sold down the river. Don't matter who does the sellin', you're headin' down the river anyway.
