An update to Christopher Hitchens’ call for a rally at the Danish embassy in Washington DC:
Update, Feb. 22: Thank you all who’ve written. Please be outside the Embassy of Denmark, 3200 Whitehaven Street (off Massachusetts Avenue) between noon and 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 24. Quietness and calm are the necessities, plus cheerful conversation. Danish flags are good, or posters reading “Stand By Denmark” and any variation on this theme (such as “Buy Carlsberg/ Havarti/ Lego”) The response has been astonishing and I know that the Danes are appreciative. But they are an embassy and thus do not of course endorse or comment on any demonstration. Let us hope, however, to set a precedent for other cities and countries. Please pass on this message to friends and colleagues.

To hell with Demmark they made their bed let them sleep in it. When they are ruled by Islam and everybody is forced to live by the koran then they will wish that they had the balls to stand up for freedom. Like most people here in the US - our freedom is slipping away and liberals are taking it one piece at a time. The best thing for Demmark is to allow them to taste a little of the oppression that they have allowed and fostered.

You don't get out much, do you?
Have you visited Detroit? They have a BIG Mooselimb population. I live near DC. They built a HUGE mosque (training facility).
If you go out innearly every town in America today, you will hear Spanish spoken. I doubt if the people speaking are all here legally.
The Danes have done no more or less than we, by accomodating others into the country. But, they have the same problem we have here, with the aliens refusal to assimilate into the culture. The problem here is about whether the press should be prohibited from printing political cartoons. Would you like to prohibit free speech here? I don't.
You have every right to your opinion. But, you probably just don't know any better!

I wish I could be there. I'd most definitely be there if I were in the DC metro area.

Denmark has troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been a coalition member from the very beginning. Denmark has the strictest immigration/deportation laws in Europe. Denmark reelected a very conservative prime minister, who is a good friend of the US. Denmark has always been a good ally and trading partner. In fact, the Danes are one of last truly-pro-American people left in the world. I guess these reasons just aren't good enough for an intellectual giant such as yourself.
Instead of hoping that they succumb to Islam, why don't you try to encourage and help those who are our friends? WTH is wrong with you?

I would like to purchase a Danish flag to fly beside Old Glory on my porch. Can they be purchased on line? I have given up my Kanadian beer for that of the Danes so I may as well show some support outside my refrigerator.

What are you talking about? The Danes have taken a firm line with the Muslims and are now restricting immigration, insisting upon respect for national law and culture, and refusing to apologize to the "offended" Muslims. We have not done so much in this country. If a similar incident took place here we'd fall all over ourselves apologizing to "the religion of peace" and making sure that none of them was discriminated against.
I admire the Dutch, the Australians, and the Danes for the strong stance they are taking. We are in no position to criticize anyone because we have opened the floodgates to immigration ourselves.

DC Chapter ping!
Embassy of Denmark - 3200 Whitehaven Street, NW - between noon and 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 24. I know it's a workday for most folks, but I'm sending out the ping anyway, just in case some of you have flexible schedules.

GREAT IDEA! Good luck. Wish I lived closer or was obscenely wealthy & could fly to these things at the drop of a hat.
Looking forward to the pix/after report.

Better to lash out at others than actually have to do something like attend a rally or show support in some other way.

your comments are totally out of line.
They are negative and defeatist. You should move to france where they are especially good at being negative and defeatist.
