Hollywood celebrities and prominent corporate executives have poured thousands of dollars into the campaign of former Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Texas) to knock off Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas).
Screenwriter and producer Norman Lear, director Rob Reiner, actress and singer Barbara Streisand and musician Don Henley have written checks to Lampson, according to politicalmoneyline.com, a website that tracks campaign contributions.
Reiner and Streisand kicked in $1,000, and Lear and Henley sent Lampson $4,200.
While Democrats have courted Hollywood stars in recent years, the moguls money has usually flowed to presidential candidates, the national party or the congressional fundraising committees.
As a rule, run-of-the-mill congressional candidates do not attract Hollywood cash. But Lampson and Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett are two challengers who have attracted national attention and reaped the rewards.

$4200. What's up with that?
Hollywood has an agenda? Who knew?
These cretins aren't welcome in Texas.
They've probably given more to candidates than to charities.
It worked against McCarthy.
Anybody heard from Bob Dornan lately??
And locally failed mayoral candidate Chris Bell (D) and the Houston Comical are also part of this "get Delay" bandwagon. (Bell lost his seat to a black Democrat).
It's worked time and time again when communists wanted to take someone down.
oh well looks like Delay just won big time. All he has to say is Hollyweird owns this guy. What a way to lose , Tom Delay is back in big time, don't even vote.
Depends on your point of view, but I'd venture that all of Streisand's music is still in print, generating royalties, after some 40 years, and "All In The Family" is still on the air after 35.
Reiner seems not to be missing any meals.
(Insert your own joke here...)
It is a "point of view" kind of thing.
Undoubtedly, all of those named will make more this week than I'll make this year most likely.
More that they're not the celebrities "of the moment".
What's your guess or take on Stockman's attempt at this race?....
