Long Beach Longshoreman Threatens the Host (Rush Limbaugh)
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 2/22/06 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 02/23/2006 6:28:31 AM PST by RushCrush

RUSH: Jerry in Long Beach, I'm glad you waited, sir, welcome to the program.

CALLER: Uh, Rush, I'm a proud member of the longshoremen's union.

RUSH: Yes, sir.

CALLER: I don't appreciate you attacking our union, try to make this part of this debate. Are you telling us that Republicans don't care about our jobs? Are you telling us that Republicans want to break our union?

RUSH: No.

CALLER: Is that what this deal was about?

RUSH: No! No.

CALLER: Or is this about -- Or is this about President --

RUSH: There you go again! There you go stereotyping! There you go stereotyping.

CALLER: Is he afraid he's not going to get his commission?

RUSH: I'm telling you that from everything I know, nothing's going to change. I have said this for the past two days.

CALLER: So why are you attacking my union?

RUSH: I'm not "attacking your union"! I'm simply pointing out who your union donates to and explaining why Schumer and Hillary and these other Democrats are speaking out in opposition to the deal. While they're telling us it's about national security, it's not, they're telling it because they're trying to loyal to you. You're the ones that --

CALLER: What you're not saying is that this is a violation of the Trading with Enemies Act. You couple this with the violation of the Espionage Act, a violation of the Foreign Intelligence --

RUSH: It's none of that.

CALLER: -- Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, you've got this president committing three felonies, sir!

RUSH: It's none of that!

CALLER: He's a criminal.

RUSH: (laughing)

CALLER: And what you're doing is criminal -- and don't you attack my union!

RUSH: I didn't attack your union, but I'm about to start --

CALLER: Well, let's get it on, buddy.

Good morning.
"...and I've been menaced by union thugs for holding a nonunion position in the past."

Me, too. It's amazing how much we have in common, isn't it.

"While I agree that one union may be more reasonable and less violent than others, unions are still wrong in principle."

Hmmm, how did I get that quote in that post? It changed my position slightly.

There was a Simpsons episode where Homer was walking on a construction site and noticed a couple of workers leaning against a trailer sipping a drink. He asked "Uuum Are you guys working?" And they snapped back "Does it look like we're not working!" Homer walks away smiling and says to himself: "I wish I was a Teamster...all lazy and surly."

the unions we are speaking of are run by the mafia

Some are and some aren't.  Same can be said of corporations too, but most CEOs are clean.  Same for most union workers.

Well we'll have to disagree.

I don't have time, at the moment, to discuss this as thoroughly as you may like. I'm tending to this little project that I have going on. It puts money in the hands of the lazy in the form of taxes. Oh and I make a living off of it too.

Amazing how someone who can listen and absorb EVERY WORD his/her union spews at him/her cannot hear ANYTHING else clearly.

The guy sure sounds like he is on a thin thread with his job, or he thinks he is.

I notice you clipped off socialist.

Longshoreman’s union has definite mob ties and is intermixed with the communist party.

I never had much contact with the Longshoreman's Union so you know more than I do. All I know is back in the 80's my union dues went to the AFGE, and our hall was fine.

It's speculated in the beef industry that this latest with Japan was a set up. The shipment had been pre-approved by Japan, only to be stopped when actually imported. It smells of Japanese beef-lobby which is against reinstating of American beef imports.

Whether Atlantic Lamb and Veal was a willing accomplice or a useful idiot is anybody's guess.

"What ever happened to the dude on the left?"

Good question. I know a lot of peole wanted to "meet" him. I'll have to see what I can find on it.

Agreed. Speculative. But it is always good to make mental notes. You never know what news will crop up later.

Yes, lots of them (what is left of them) have no choice but to move to the left politically, just as the politicos who they fund have moved to the left. There's really no where else to go in order to separate yourself out from "the other party". It is FUN to watch these folks being forced to make fools of themselves.

A group is only as good as it's leadership. The union you belonged to may have had a good leader. The concept of a union is understood protection from some corporate guns that can get full of themselves. But when the leadership is hijecked, the tables turn.

"That's so well thought out. I'm glad to see there is no knee jerk involved. Now you can go back to your crayolas."

What's knee jerk about it? If companies got together to corner a market on a certain product, they'd get hit with anti-trust lawsuits.

Unions are legalized monopolies, and in Washington State, even though it is ILLEGAL for a state employee to strike, a state employee MUST join the union and pay their dues, or they LOSE THEIR JOBS. That policy came straight from our putative governor's desk not a month ago (www.soundpolitics.org and look up anything from about a month ago).

You want to get together and strike? Be my guest. You want to create an organization that is allowed to impose compulsory membership as a condition of employment, where the dues you pay are garnished from your paycheck? Fly to what's left of Cuba, North Korea, or any of the other fine Communist paradises and join that parade.

If, however, you still want to kick it here in the states you could live in that Detroit-pit-of-hell or Chicagostan. Chicago has a rich commie history.

Want to know the two differences between Ford and Toyota? One is an HMO that makes cars as a hobby, and the other employees Americans to manufacture quality automobiles.

"Unions, like all other forms of organized criminal gangs, should be illegal."

That's so well thought out. I'm glad to see there is no knee jerk involved. Now you can go back to your crayolas.

What do you find wrong with that comment? If you are a union member you know it is true whether you admit it or not.

Years ago I worked for an international company, the largest and most successful in their field, that was headquartered in Cleveland an had plants in Cleveland, Dayton, and Toledo, as well as in several other states. After 80+ years in business the unions finally put them out of business with their unbending rules, selfish unwillingness to negotiate, and purposely mismaking millions of dollars in inventory that had to be thrown away, not to mention the problems it created with customers when the parts weren't up to specs.

I could tell lots of war stories about the unions but I won't take up the space.
