Venezuela Receives First Shipment of Russian Military Helicopters
VOA news ^ | 2/22/2006 | By VOA News

Posted on 02/22/2006 6:50:01 PM PST by Thunder90

Venezuela has received the first three of at least 10 military helicopters purchased from Russia.

Military officials say the three MI-17 helicopters arrived Tuesday in Caracas.

Venezuela bought the helicopters as part of a $120 million deal signed last March. Caracas also agreed last year to buy 100,000 Russian-made Kalashnikov assault rifles.

U.S. officials have criticized the deals, saying they could trigger an arms race, destabilizing the region.

MI-17s can be used in an assault role or as a transport craft. Venezuelan military officials say the helicopters will be used to patrol the border with neighboring Colombia.

The remaining helicopters bought from Russia are transport helicopters.

Need I post more pictures of Putin hanging out with the club of world dictators? Or more information on how Putin is selling high tech weapons to these dictators? Need I go into how Russia has the most advanced ICBM in the world, against the SALT treaty (Which Russia has ignored)

Thees weapons and deals are definitely the sign of aggression most likely aimed at Colombia. He is not looking for a head on war with the U.S. he knows he would lose. But if he were to "Liberate" Colombia and install the FARC regime that would put him within 100 miles of the panama canal and definitely in fighter and Short Range Missile Range. He could also use special op's raids to sabotage the canal or provoke revolution in panama from Colombia and installing a pro-chavez regime. China would back such an act because it would provide the Chinese with strategic leverage against us, and the Russians would support it because part of resurrecting there status as super power would entail client states especially those in strategic zones. Brazil also is a wild card, they have a communist president and anti-american population and the hopes of becoming the super power of the south equator. If Chavez were to act incrementally and if we continue to be preoccupied with the middle east, Chavez could carry out alot of the above described operations with little to no u.s. military engagement (especially since we have a phobia of jungle wars).

Russia is planning large scale weapons sales and refits/upgrades to Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, and if D.Ortega wins in Nicaragua, there too.

I think you should. Because it would be huge scandal if you right.
Unthinkable Russia ignored treaty with United States and developed new ICBM while no one in America didn't notice (but you did!).
I think it is very strong point to condemn Putin regime. Give us your facts please. Those we can bring to court. No gossips no conspirancy theories but just tangible facts.

About jihad-o-holics is no objections. But who gave them visas in first place? Religion of peace. Isn't it pres Bush told this sometimes?
Commies and other lefties in Amrica as far as I know are born americans mostly.
Putin promoters? Interesting who are they? Don't you imply that it is few people who have different opinion about Russia here?
Is it wrong already to have a different opinion? I just thought before that in discussions the truth is being born. But maybe you want conformity in minds?

I may agree that Putin do ignore sometime the interests of USA and Israel in his foreign actions. But he is president of Russia not USA or Israel. So he hasn't to do in interest of USA and Israel. At least if latter wants Russia to do things in thier interests they need to do something in reciprocal. Am I right?

"But who gave them visas in first place? Religion of peace. Isn't it pres Bush told this sometimes? The ones who issued the visa's were appeasing fools. "Putin promoters? Interesting who are they?"

You already know of whom I speak.

"But who gave them visas in first place? Religion of peace. Isn't it pres Bush told this sometimes? You already know of whom I speak.

The wrong government employees are in key immigration positions handing out visa's to Islamic sleeper cells and other subversives.

"Don't you imply that it is few people who have different opinion about Russia here? "

The vast majority on here know Putin can not nor should ever be trusted, he is America's enemy, except his mask of deception has not been fully removed showing his red communist fangs of conquest.

"Commies and other lefties in Amrica as far as I know are born americans mostly."

Every nation seems to have that 15 to 20% collection of traitors, still pushing for a worldwide leftist dominated dictatorship - of course controlled by those pushing for such a repressive system.

"Is it wrong already to have a different opinion? I just thought before that in discussions the truth is being born. But maybe you want conformity in minds?"

America should have conformity when it comes to our enemies seeking the destruction of the United States, as the majority of the public did during World War Two. Anyone promoting Islamic terrorists and the likes of those who arm them, such as KGB Putin with arming Iran, Syria plus Communist enemy states have clearly adopted the opinion America is their enemy, and that makes the entire lot a clear and present danger to freedom.

"I may agree that Putin do ignore sometime the interests of USA and Israel in his foreign actions. But he is president of Russia not USA or Israel. So he hasn't to do in interest of USA and Israel. At least if latter wants Russia to do things in thier interests they need to do something in reciprocal. Am I right?"

Yes, you are correct Putin is America and the free world's enemy and should be dealt with right after the renegade jihadic states he armed are.

How many Americans have you seen shaking hands with the likes of the Mohammedan madman Ahmadinejad?

Putin is America's arch enemy, without question, in providing advanced weapons to the worst of America's enemies.

What are your own reasons for trusting KGB Putin?

Our Problem is not Putin, Helicopters or Nut Jobs in Venezuela or anywhere else. Our problem is that the world sees our left's political and social activities as weakness. They see our tolerance in the world as evidence that the US people lack the will to defend our interests and behave in a manner expected when one is the most economically and politically powerful. They cannot in any measure comprehend why we would not take advantage ruthlessly of our strength. They all smell blood and think they will be the ones to take us down. Our political leadership in both parties seems to have bought into the Globalist Plan and knocking down the American People’s economic and social independence daily is their commitment. They feel compelled to crush the American Spirit and put to rest as myth any notion of a God Given Bill of Rights. All in search of the Uber Transnational Socialist State.

Putin is arming America's and the West's most vicious enemies, and I would agree those striving for the "Uber Transnational Socialist State"

The Iranian Jihad-O-Holics are up front about their genocidal goals beginning with Israel. Putin on the other hand is playing a very deceptive con game, regrettably various key Western leaders have fallen for buying into this KGB snake's lies that indicate Moscow is really on the side of "freedom and justice".

Selling Iran advanced anti-aircraft weaponry which is surrounding Tehran's various nuclear weapons plants, as in the Russian-built nuclear plant at Bushehr, clearly indicate Putin is not only an "ally" in the war against Islamic terrorism, but an active promoter of the one of the worst fanatical jihadist states, sworn to destroy the West's economic system.

Duel enemies of the West

"They see our tolerance in the world as evidence that the US people lack the will to defend our interests and behave in a manner expected when one is the most economically and politically powerful."

Over the next few months it will be very interesting to see if Iran, Syria and their terrorist proxies still believe we will not defend our interests.

Putin makes money that way. Maybe it is cynical but russian workers want livings. Iran is rich country which pays american dollars. Where Iran got them anyway? Not from America you think?
Why it is not bad for United States companies to trade with Iran and China but it is bad for Russia?

If you don't want that Russia sells there then open for her new markets. It would be real not just bla bla. Otherwise you want from Russia not making money for nothing.
Give her new markets in turn then ask Putin not to sell to Iran, Syria or Venesuella. You will be amazed he will be glad:).

But something tells me that the weapons will only be handed out to those who are loyal.

Nonsense! This area of the world is not on the other side of the world like Nam. Maybe you have forgotten Nicaragua. Our jungle warfare school was in Panama for many years, where they have the thickest jungles in the world. I know, I am a graduate of the school.

First and foremost I'm not saying we would never ever fight in the jungles I am just saying that if you think we had a hassle with Iraq you know the stooges in congress would be going nuts over this.

Second, Though Panama had jungle combat, it was a relatively small country and mainly kept to the cities, a fight in Venezuela would probably take place in some of the thickest rainforest's there is. I know we would kick ass, we did in nam, and we definitely would now with all the thermal and night-vision technology alone that we have (not to mention smart bombs and tons of other gizmo's). I also know that every war to congress is another "Vietnam" and that a jungle war would be even juicier for them to act out there demagoguery.

Panama was when I was 3, However I have seen the documentaries on the operation. You guy's kicked Ass.

The Russians could make a heck of a lot more money by privatizing their industries and selling more peaceful goods to Western nations.
