great links thanks
The Congress will obviously be soon fighting to get their fingers in the pie by changing these laws.
Constitution wise I thought the Congress has the explicit power to regulate commerce w/ foreign nations?

OK...now would you or someone else post this thingy congress passed back in 1988.The following is from Post 85:
http://www.treasury.gov/offices/international-affairs/exon-florio/
To assist in making this determination, Exon-Florio provides for the President or his designee to receive written notice of an acquisition, merger or takeover of a U.S. corporation by a foreign entity. Once CFIUS has received a complete notification, it begins a thorough review of the notified transaction. In some cases, it is necessary to undertake an extended review or "investigation." An investigation, if necessary, must begin no later than 30 days after receipt of a notice. Any investigation is required to end within 45 days.
Information provided by companies contemplating a transaction subject to Exon-Florio is held confidential and is not made public, except in the case of an administrative or judicial action or proceeding. Nothing in section 721 shall be construed to prevent disclosure to either House of Congress or to any duly authorized committee or subcommittee of the Congress.
This order also provides for CFIUS to submit a report and recommendation to the President at the conclusion of an investigation.

You are truly a lost cause. There are more willing evil doers from the middle East than from anywhere else. Why go shopping in Compton when you live in Beverly Hills? Unless it is some know it all do gooder like you.
Do you live close to one of the ports in question? I suspect not since you don't have a profile. When the attack from a port comes I hope you have show us all your commitment to this sale and moved as close to one of them as possible.

Did I mention that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs likes the port deal? Did I mention Tommy Franks says the UAE are our friends? Hillary is on your side. Think about it.

If you don't trust Peter Pace and you can't see for yourself that he is honorable, not to mention Tommy Franks then there's nobody you can trust. It's no use trying to convince you. Go ahead hitch your wagon to your foolish notions. Your side has lost this, reason and facts have prevailed and the deal will go through.

Not so fast cowboy. If you don't understand that by the time you make Major and if you haven't learned politics your career is over; than you don't know anything about the Military. If you want to be CJC's you have to be a supreme politician. ANY field grade officer that criticizes POTUS can kiss his career goodbye and can be up on an Article 32 in a minute.
Jimmy Carter is on your side! Stick that on your wall. The worst President in modern time who single handedly started this mess is for it. Talk about foolish notions.
The deal ain't done yet. Check the latest news.

I would feel perfectly safe living next to one of those ports.

Put your life where you fingers are. Move close to Baltimore or one of the other ports. Typical leftist. Talk, Talk, Talk - no action.

Only to those who are making a knee jerk reaction based on their impressions of the 'facts' rather then a knowledge of what is really going on regarding the operations of port terminals, the facts of how this decision was arrived and and what actual security procedures are in place. You know, you might be right. At the beginning, we were dealing with a bit of a "black box". As things are coming more into focus and we see who is lining up on which side of this issues, I am beginning to have hope that the deal is on the up and up. But, I 'll say that the the White House sure did a crumby job of presenting its case. And, with Bush threatening the first veto of his two terms in office for the sake of foreign interests... The whole thing was starting to stink.
"Knee jerk reactions", AKA, public outrage has had one good affect. It's caused the there to be a thorough review of this whole issue.
Even if this matter clears the review process in every way, I'll never feel comfortable with it.
