Can't see the game but the penalties in the 3rd on the NBC web ticker look like frustration penalties.
I'm gonna be sad watching this game when I get home tonight.
Goal.
We have a game on :-)
50 seconds left
Drop in the Finnish zone. USA with the goalkeeper out.
Brutal. ....losing 4 games in a row by a single goal.
bttt
I think they fell behind in each of those games as well, so were always playing catch-up.
This stinks. :(
Iknow...
it *might* have been a minor for the blood it caused....MAYBE....
Roenick....
He wanted to play but wasn't allowed because for some reason the USOC wanted Tkachuk who was on the IR until a week before the Olympic break started......
Yes, Shasha was ahead by only hundreths of a point. I am fortunate on this occasion of living in the Detroit area. I have been watching on the Canadian television, and the skating is over by the time it is shown on American television. Of course, I do have to listen to how good the Canadians are doing, but that's ok.
I don't mind it, except when the team they put out is uncompetitive.
I like the Team Canada players and I like the Swedes and how they play.
For some reason the US just can't compete. Maybe it's because the team wasn't the best they could have selected, maybe it's because those other teams are just better.
But I seriously doubt you will find one US player who is satisfied with this result.
JR might have been a good choice over Tkachuk, but in the end I'm not sure it would have made a difference.
So sad.
Hell I would have been better than Tkachuk in this tournament.......
He didn't score a point he was alledgedly one of our best offensive players.
I'm watching CBC as well but we are using rabbit ears to get it and decided to wait until it was on NBC.
Have they shown the Short Track yet? I saw the Ladies Speed Skating but geez if I miss Ohno again I will be very sad.
What I hated even more was (maybe still is) the practice of keeping out those athletes (no matter what their views or situation) from nations which the Olympic committee disliked. Of course, this never included even the worst of the communist nations.
Zach Parise and Keith Ballard might have been good candidates for the spots by Tkachuk and Chelios.
Ah well, we will never know what might have been.
Short track coming up on Eurosport radio.
You cannot just throw a bunch of players together without any time to work together and expect them to win. Teams like the Finns have a couple of NHL players, but the rest have played alongside each other for a long time. The way this team was put together was just plain stupid. I mean come on, what's the deal letting over-40 guys on the team, like Chelios. Just plain stupid.
Leave it to Hatcher to commit a dumb penalty at the worst possible time.
LOL - after watching this year's curling and the last Olympic's curling matches - I think I almost understand it!
At least the matches are on a sensible time.
I don't remember the Nagano Olympics being at off hours like Torino.... this is ridiculous.
I hope the IOC doesn't give NBC any more shots at the games ever....ever. And then they grumble about the numbers being low....nobody can find the programming and the events are scattered all over the place.
Shame on NBC. They don't care a bit for their country.
