Gov. George Pataki, showing no improvement five days after surgeons removed his appendix, was transferred Tuesday to a New York City hospital and underwent another operation.
Doctors operated to alleviate a blockage in Pataki's digestive system, said his spokesman, David Catalfamo.
Afterward, the governor was "awake, alert and resting comfortably," ...
A blockage following abdominal surgery is relatively rare, said Daniel Herron, an assistant professor of surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan.

I am NOT at all saying that this is happening to Pataki..BUT my cousin had his appendix out, and they discovered it was a not so common Colon cancer which started in his appendix.
He had a second surgery after the appendix was biopsied.
I pray for Gov. Pataki..he's a good person.

I read that he had gone to New York Presbyterian Hospital, second.
So Sinai must have been his third hospital.

Ouch! I bet he is resting a lot more comfortably now. That is a painful post-op complication.

Pataki was transferred to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center ...
because of a blockage in his intestines, five days after doctors performed an emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
Doctors will update the governors condition on Wednesday.

Sounds like the wrong surgery was performed first.

The most common cause of bowel obstructio is feces impaction; surely it shouldn't have taken five days to determine that the governor was full of S,,,(filling up with waste..)
After surgery, it is a common practice to weigh all nourishment and to weigh all excrement just for reasons such as this.

Perhaps there is a doctor in the house ?
If not, it is my understanding that the intestines generally shut down after surgery. However, within a few days (2 or so ?) the plumbing normally opens up.
If there is colon cancer causing trouble, then more surgery is indicated.

I should think that a lot of politicians would suffer from this type impaction.

I'd rather not be anesthestized by people who didn't vote for me and are foraging my lower GI tract.
