That would be one way to find out what happened to Sodom's WMDs. My bet would be on a Syrian stockpile.

The arabs and Iranians are playing with fire, and they're about to get burned.

If you want to take the religeous point of view. Geopolitically and militarily, all of the arab armies combined have already tried unsucessfully 3 times. And it is not like they got any better at real warfare.

Does anyone who's not asleep not see the major war headed our direction? You would think, wouldn't you? But Neville Chamberlain is historical proof that supposedly intelligent people sometimes can't see the obvious, even when it's right in front of their faces.

Bush has already come out and said the US would defend Israel militarily...the problem is Hamas, Syria, etc. will probably just wait for the next US election to see who is elected before waging a full scale war with Israel.

Imagine al-Qaeda or the PKK running in elections? A dictators democracy is a dangerous false impression, Could not have said it better myself.
You should never enter into a democratic contest with someone who doesn't believe in democracy, doesn't believe in the rule of law, doesn't respect the humanity of his political opponents. Such a person is deadly dangerous, your enemy; you don't settle your conflict with such a person by majority rule, you settle it by more definitive means, the dungeon and the bullet.
Your freedom is not up for grabs by the highest bidder, and no one should be allowed to run for office who is not sworn to respect your freedom. In the moment such a person is elected, you should consider your democracy to be broken, and you are in a state of revolution until he has departed the scene.

And it is not like they got any better at real warfare. That's why they need an atomic bomb. Maybe they can get Musharaff out of power in Nuclear armed Pakistan, and get a more sympathetic Muslim in power in his place.
Or given the time Iran will develop one. - Tom

You're correct.

And it is not like they got any better at real warfare. They don't need "real warfare" if they have nukes. If Iran drops a few nukes on Tel Aviv and a few other cities, followed by an immediate all out attack from Syria, Israel would be in a much worse position then they were in '67. Sure they could take out Tehran and Damascus, but that would only get the rest of the Muslim world in on the war too. Could they pull off what they did forty years ago, after having their cities devastated by a nuclear attack?
To: jpl
"But Neville Chamberlain is historical proof that supposedly intelligent people sometimes can't see the obvious, even when it's right in front of their faces."Actually, the more "intellectual" a person considers him or herself, the more easily they fail or refuse to see and accept the obvious.
