OK,
So we decide to outlaw Islam.

And we have soldiers, citizens, politicians, lawyers, Doctors etc who are all Islamic. All who see themselves as Americans..... And are.

So what happens then? Do they have a "OK! I just think I'll mosey myself down to the First _____ Church of the Boondocks and learn how to sing gospel music." moment.

What would YOU do?

I know what I would do if someone told me what to do or not to believe....tell me that I am evil and my religion is too...... I'm a damn good actress when I have to be....you'd think you had the bestest little convert you ever had!

But I'll hate you forever if you take away my right to believe.

Understand. ;)

How would we outlaw a religion? Would we demand that all religious entities be registered? Would we require all citizens to profess belief only in approved religious entities? Would we have a special "religious police" looking for unregistered "house churches?"

Amazing how many "conservatives" here want to replicate something straight out of the People's Republic of China...

No one cares what you (rhetorical 'you', not you 'you')believe. It's when your beliefs cross the line from peaceful contemplation and activities to deadly action that we begin to take notice.

We take even more notice when for every passage of the Koran that extolls mercy, justice and charity, is another that makes it your holy duty to rape, plunder and pillage, provided you can find an excuse (i.e. fatwa). Only Islam casts the baser aspects of human nature as virtues so long as the target can somehow be labelled "infidel" or "apostate", no matter how flimsy the pretense.

Get this trough your head: Islam IS NOT A RELIGION. It's a justification.

LOL, somehow I doubt they have that particular type of moment. Heck, I doubt anyone does. :)

Well, outlaw islam in the current form, as closed off to interpretation. Have them create the 'new mosque of islam', a true 'religeon of peace (tm)', reform the belief so it doesn't require political power and/or killing of infidels, and get to preaching/worshipping. Of course, they might get killed for being apostates in the mean time.

What would I do ? Well, I personally believe that religeon is between the man and god directly, so if someone said 'your beliefs are now outlawed', I'd just shrug and go on believing as I do. I don't need a place of worship, nor do I need someone to tell me what I should believe, nor do I need to tell others how to believe. My hereafter is between god and myself. In the meantime, I have more important things to attend to in my mortail coil, such as, keeping an eye on crazy religeous fanatics cutting it short.

They already hate us. I've listend many times to radio talk shows, in which a "moderate" muslim calls in to give his 2¢. The host will try to get them to condemn all terrorist acts, and the muslim invariably replies with "well, under certain circumstances..", or "well, it's a complicated question..."

Remember, these are the moderates.
