Things didn't work out well at the Olympics for Johnny Weir, the flamboyant American figure skater. Favored to take home a medal, he finished a disappointing fifth after a very rugged long program.
But Johnny shouldn't feel too bad. When he hangs up the skates, there could be a promising second career for him . . . as a member of the liberal media.
Interviewed on CBS' Early Show this morning, Weir explained that he knew he wasn't at his best on the day of the long program, and in particular wasn't "feeling pretty." Then, waxing philosophical, he noted that things aren't always perfect. If they were, Michelle Kwan would be skating, and "we wouldn't be in Iraq."
This isn't Johnny's first foray into political opinion at these Olympics. As NewsBuster David Pierre has pointed out, Weir has been seen sporting a Soviet Union retro jacket and has been heard to inveigh against "Republican-style people."
Hmm. With Katie Couric rumored to be moving to the CBS Evening News, there could be an opening at Today, Johnny!

"we wouldn't be in Iraq."
I can't argue with that. In a perfect world we wouldn't need to be in Iraq.
But the world isn't perfect...

What's so flamboyant about Weir?..... I thought everybody important was a homosexual... Lincoln, Shakespeare, Jesus, Alexander the Great, St.Paul, the entire country of France, everybody on the "design" side of HGTV, all the cool people in high school, all the priests...
Reagan's son, Streisand's son, Cher's daughter, Cheney's daughter, all male figure skaters, ballet dancers, set designers, and finally any single male that has track lighting and loves show tunes.

The first time that I knew anything about this guy was a few days ago when NBC interviewed him. He is an American, and I was prepared to support his medal bid. However, he started of at the beginning of the interview dissing Southerners and Republican-style people. Since I fit both categories, it caused me to opine, why did this guy just turn over half the people in the country against him? Answer, the same reason that Streisand, Baldwin, Dixie Chicks, Madonna, etc. did. They hate it that most NORMAL people in the country support the GOP. As a Southerner who has lived outside of the South for several years, I am used to the snide comments (it was really bad 30 yrs ago). The South routinely supplies a disproportionate share of the US military. Of course Weir has no idea how important it is to defend America.

With respect to his most likely lifestyle, he may choke again a time or two.

Why does that prissy face suddenly remind me of Ron Junior? Maybe he thought if he expressed his anti-American feelings, it would help him out with the judges. Instead he got back his bad karma. LOL @ him.
