President Clinton said the Bush administration's "enormous penchant for secrecy" sparked the strong reaction to Vice President Dick Cheney's shooting mishap.
"We have people quite often who are shot in quail incidents, so I didn't feel the need to get into the pile-on," Clinton said on ABC's "Good Morning America."
-snip-
"I think the White House should have said something about it sooner," Clinton said. "I think that it's gotten a little more light than it would have because the administration has an enormous penchant for secrecy for not telling anybody anything about anything."

Until now.
These people have no shame. Next we will be hearing from Ted Kennedy if we haven't already.

FR post "NO BIG DEAL" fits this LA article to a T.
Its IMPEACHED, ''RAPIST'', former president Clinton.
bttt
Well, Bubba is President Bush's "adopted brother" these days, so we should probably let him (or Bubba's "adoptive father", GHWB) handle this.
Memo to Bush Family:
"Sleep with horndogs, wake up with no ethics"
Encourage him. Every time Bill opens his mouth it serves to remind people how much they hated having him and his wide load accomplice in the White House. She knows what he is doing and can't do anything about - publicly. He knows what he is doing because it wouldn't do anything for what he thinks his legacy is to see her elected president.
This is just another in a series of a thousand cuts.
How long did it take for the soiling of an intern's blue dress take to be reported?
I'm not sure what your point is?
History will treat Clinton's legacy differently than how he thinks it will be treated, and it's eating him alive.
Bill you shot your wad and you denied that you shot your wad, until your wad ended on the blue dress.
The thing is you intended to shoot your wad in the face of your friend - VP Cheney did not.
VP Cheney took full responsibility for it right away - you had to be dragged before congress, caught in lie after lie after lie before you called it an error in judgement.
One final point VP Cheney's victim will make a full recovery yours never will and they are still counting them.
Oh Bill does the Rose Law firm billing records ring a bell. DAH, Amen.
Nice of Q-TIP HEAD to lend his view, again.
Yeah, you can say that, but Vince Foster never shot anyone.
You missed the point.
I was pointing out the press's double standard. They can't claim to be outraged over the so-called secrecy of not informing the press over a hunting accident, in which the injured party was medically treated, the police were duly informed, and which is demonstrably only an accident, when Clinton's administration clearly attempted to conceal his affairs from official investigations, his accusers of past wrong doings were intimidated, among many other things.
If I were bj, I'd deny it too.
I'm still waiting for Mr. Clinton to say "I feel your pain" to Harry Whittington.
Last week a caller on FOX said he didn't see what the big deal was. Clinton shot a "load' at someone and We didn't hear about it for months.
These words must have appeared on the crats-morn-fax about a week ago since I have heard the exact words from Dean, Beckel, Ms Clinton, Durbin, Reid, Esterditch, and yes, even the 'fair and balanced' Alan Colmes!!!!!
Yeah, Bill. Maybe Cheney should have said something like:
"I did not shoot that man....Whittington....the shotgun did it."
