He Lost Control of His Emotions
Newsweak ^ | 2-27-2006 | Steve Tuttle

Feb. 27, 2006 issue - Like Dick Cheney, veteran hunter John Freck knows the feeling of raising a shotgun to a covey of quail. "You get a huge adrenaline rush when the birds flush," says Freck, who regularly pursues quail with his German shorthaired pointer, Gunnar. That rush is one of the reasons hunters love the sport. But it's also the cause of accidents. No matter what else they may think of Cheney, hunters around the country agreed last week that the vice president, known as a careful sportsman and a good shot, broke a cardinal rule: in that exhilarating moment when the birds scattered up all around him, he didn't check to make sure his line of fire was clear before he pulled the trigger. "He lost control of his emotions," Freck says. "In a split second, you have to decide all these things at once."

They're in full blown "Hissy-Fit" mode over this, aren't they?

The media's response is comical, really. I'm fully enjoying the entertainment value of their hysteria. I hope it lasts at least another week.

Well, the MSM has plenty to be mad about.

1. They got scooped by a local paper.

2. Whittington didn't die.

3. Cheney isn't being charged with anything.

4. Whittington doesn't hate Cheney.

So yeah, they're even angrier than usual.

"He lost control of his emotions," Freck says.

Whoops, I thought it was another David Gregory story!

These "journalists" are going to be tracking down experienced hunters and sportsmen for weeks to let us all know what a lapse in judgment Cheney suffered. It was a hunting accident, period.

Jonathan Alter's take...

The Imperial (Vice) Presidency
Since Cheney doesn't have a real chance of moving up, he felt he could change the rules.

Washington: CheneyÂ’s World And Woes
Feb. 27, 2006 issue - Fox News's exclusive interview with Vice President Dick Cheney was, as CNN's Jack Cafferty sniped, "like Bonnie interviewing Clyde," but Brit Hume posed some good questions. When asked if he still thinks after everything that happened that he handled the story the right way, Cheney replied, "I still do." To me, this was the most revealing part of the whole episode. Cheney believes in what might be called partisan accountability‚—you answer only to your own side, on your own terms, not to the jackals of the mainstream media.

Vice President Cheney couldn't care less what Alter or any other media ninny thinks of him and they hate him for it.

The only way it could be more credible to me is if I got it in one of those FW:FW:FW: emails.

If Mr. Whittington isn't upset over it, why should anyone else be?

Just the leftstream media tying their hardest to embarrass the Bush Administration, that's all.

The MSM will continue to cover this until it completely kills the Democratic Party. The MSM, along with Howard Dean, is the greatest thing that we have going for the Republican Party and conservatives. Middle America will not tolerate any more of this BS. So, keep it up MSM!

The Quail hunters in S. Georgia generally think Whittington was more at fault by not announcing himself,

Gee: I hunt. Nobody asked me what I thought. How could I agree if they didnt ask me?

I agree with one thing he says, When those birds start up, no matter how ready you are , you arent ready.

First Cheney is a cold, unemotional robot for not immediately going to the media and making a tearful display. Now he is a wild, emotional wreck with a gun. Maybe he was too intensely focused on his prey and that contributed to the accident. A misstep like that is "losing control" of emotions? I guess the media are making it sound like he had some sort of tantrum and shot his friend in a fit of rage. That is absurd. And how many toxic emotions did Bill Clinton exhibit and Newsweek was enthralled with him.

Yeah, who cares if the other guy is supposed to be "at fault" when it's YOU that gets shot?

Nah, they didn't get any traction with this one, either. We've moved on to "Bush sold our ports to the ARABS".
Won't be any traction there, either, but it has gotten Freepers in a lather. LOL.
