I'm 51 next Thursday, so since we were in the same class that's a good bet.
nice to rub it in...oh- wait.. I have day two....
now I am rubbing it in...
oooooooooooooooops!
You must have never hung out on this thread much...this is probably the best thread to bring up this kind of subject because we are all interested in a lot of subjects not just one topic...
Therefore, we have be known to stray off the path...and the troops are ALWAYS a welcome topic.
I'm not telling Wolf, Timmy, Steffy, Chris, Chrissy or Bob. Are you planning on spilling the beans?
LOL!!!!
LOL!!!!
not I!
Tom Coburn, who I normally NEVER have a problem with...was at the press conference with Schumer, and was a signer of the letter to President Bush asking for an explanation to Congress on this deal...
In fact, because he was in the group, I jumped on the bandwagon that this HAS to be a bad deal...
I don't know what his reasons are...I didn't hear him speak, just Schumer..
Graham for sure needs to be told that the UAE company would NOT be in charge of port security, like he said on Fox..
But, until we hear more....I just don't know where all the Congress stands...and unfortunately, they are once again on vacation until Feb. 28th...
Last week, during Chrissy's Hairball show...he was practically shouting at all of the guests that Cheney had shot Mr. Whittington in the HEART! He kept saying it over and over...
Plus, he added Ron Reagan on the show to throw in that Cheney might have been drunk....
and so it went ALL WEEK!!
We need to make it clear, without prejudgment of the "right answer," that we think the reactions to date are way premature. We want to know either what the story is, so that we can make up our own minds, or that it is too sensitive to discuss in detail (in which case I take GWBs word over anyone else so far mentioned)
Hey...patriciaruth, do you remember all of the wonderful freepmails you sent me about the packing rules, custom form rules, and what to send/not to send???
I think ms. eeeeeeeeeeevil would like the same information, if you could please send it to her.
You won't regret it....this is one energetic person..and the troops will truly benefit!!
you are going to ruin my reputation for being eeeeeeeevil, self serving, and lazy.......
Just emphasizing what you said!
We [grad students in politics LOL! aka junkies] don't need to hear a happy housewife or high school kid praising Sean - every day. But each one of these callers is a new R voter - who will probably share his or her enthusiasm with friends. At least we know they are not swallowing the lib koolaid.
I check onto Sean's show to see if he has a guest - like the VP, for example. But I am very grateful for the message that he spreads across the country.
major real-world information that contributes to the current debate on ports in a way that the MSM just can't match
Well done!
I cite to it so I can find it again ;-) At any rate, after a bit of rooting around, I am of the opinion that the Dubai deal is more of the usual maneuvering by big money, and nothing more than that. Such maneuvering often involves government actors, as business and government actors are fairly well cut from the same close knit families.
I think the sale is a non-issue from a security standpoint. Dubai and the UAE are already major beneficiaries of US Customs programs, Secure Containers Initiative, and Megaports Initiative. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1581698/posts?page=80#80 for an introduction.
I would suggest that a thread be started ...
It'll be more fun for me to watch proliferation of threads on the subject, and resulting flame wars on the Dubai project. My posts today have been on a variety of threads, and many of them relate to the Dubai project. If anybody is interested to review my observations, cites and conclusions, read through my posting history from about here:

While poking around for a good "post number" to attach to that link, I ran into this old post of mine ...

I have learned that he (she?) is a very knowledgeable and resourceful advocate who is usually right and has the facts to back up any positions taken ...
Shucks. Thanks. I've been wrong plenty of times, trust me on that one.
I totally agree with you...this is one subject that I am pretty on the fence about..so I will be open to any information.
However, like I posted earlier in the thread, every time Chertoff was askeda about this today..he stressed how he couldn't talk about it, because of the classified nature of this..
I am kind of confused about that, in a way...because if this is "just" a business deal, involving a company in Britain, selling to a company in Dubai...WHY would it be SO secretive??
I wonder if, during this week's recess, we contacted individual Congresscritter's offices and asked if they have studied this..or have an opinion...and what it is...if they would tell us??
It would help...if we could get some to answer, to make a list of those that answer and their opinions.
I am doing my best!!! LOL
I agree but, of course, I disagree.
You're right that Rush, et al, are not truly original thinkers. In truth, no one is. I, for one, freely admit that nothing I post here or advance in any other forum is truly original with me. What I do (in a small way) and what Rush does is to weed through the mountains of information that comes in and pick out the bits that make sense. His talent is that he is very good at picking out what is good from what is crap (generally) from the avalanche that he is faced with.
That is no small talent.
Having said that, it would be nice if he gave credit. Nice catch.
:-)
you really are TOPS!
(reprise) DFU SONG: Beep Beep (Cheney's shot is all over the news; Hillary hitting guard wasn't)
You provided the citations, but you didn't provide the links... shame on you. We need to have links to your posts.
