Wearing pink gloves, Cindy Sheehan held a picture of her soldier son Casey who was killed while serving in Iraq.
WBBM Newsradio 780's Nancy Harty reports the anti-war advocate shivered in the cold before a crowd gathered at Independence Park on Chicago's Northwest Side Saturday morning.
She says Congressional Democrats are just as bad as Republicans when it comes to inaction on the Iraq war and urged supporters of peace must hold their congressmen accountable.
Holding signs that said "the war isn't working," about one hundred opponents of the war loudly clapped their gloved hands, chanted and sang songs with pacifist lyrics.
Sheehan says voters should support candidates who advocate withdrawl of US troops from Iraq.
The group marched over to Congressman Rahm Emanuel's office to drop off a letter signed by Sheehan, asking him to support the immediate withdrawl of troops.
Sheehan and others were highly critical of the Chicago Democrat, saying his decision to vote for the war and lack of efforts to end it are a failure to serve his constituents.
The group says progressive democrats should support candidates who oppose the war.
Johnny Hap says he's running against Emanuel because he won't speak out against the war and the Congressman is acting like a Republican.
A statement from Emanuel says he admires the group's commitment and shares their unhappiness with how the Bush Administration is handling the war.
Hear the crickets, Cindy?
Chicago has an msa of about 8-9 million and the unemployables from rent-a-mob are sitting at home making new tin hats? lol
Only 100??
Texas in August and Chicago in February. These folks aren't very bright.
"Texas in August and Chicago in February. These folks aren't very bright."
LOL! Good point!
100??? The groundswell has finally begun... LOL
PS. He wishes they'd go away.
100 protesters? Perhaps her next rally can be held in the back of a VW bug. Amen.
76 tombones lead the big parade, 101 coronets... Wait a minute! Wrong show. Could it be the "100 Man March"?
A whole hundred?
I guess that means it will go down in history as the "Million Moms Against the War" march, huh?
A crowd of 100 gloved hands clapping must be deafening, I hope the letter was written on soft paper I am sure it will be used appropriately.
"Leads 100"
Is that all she could get? I wonder how many of the 100 were MSM reporters?
Good idea Cindy, go after a Clinton enforcer. heh heh
100, amazing. Kumbuya, Cindy.
The check didn't clear.
Who?
Isn't there someway to shut this bedbug up????
You have to see a crowd of 100 to really understand how small it is. You could get 100 people to come watch a homeless guy pee on an electric fence.
