The week that was at the White House (David Gregory "blogs" his side of story)
MSNBC ^ | 2/17/06 | David Gregory

Posted on 02/18/2006 4:31:49 AM PST by frankjr

It's been a rough and tumble week in the White House press room over the Cheney hunting story. Many viewers have written me with praise and plenty of criticism about my questioning of press secretary Scott McClellan.

Let me say at the outset that I was wrong to lose my temper at Scott McClellan. I've worked well with Scott since we first met during the 2000 campaign. Monday, he suggested my aggressive questioning about the disclosure of the hunting accident was a stunt for the cameras. He said this during a morning OFF CAMERA briefing, which undercut his point. Furthermore, I considered it a cheap shot. I said, "Don't be a jerk to me personally, just answer the question." I regret saying that because it's never appropriate to speak that way and because it created a distraction from the issues at hand.

Putting that aside, I do not apologize for asking tough questions about this story. I'm in the business of getting information -- as much of it as possible....I have not made any judgments about the facts of this story as it pertains to what happened on the Armstrong ranch....Mr. Cheney, in my view, acted as if he had something to hide.

Yet the debate playing out in the blogosphere, cable airwaves and on talk radio pits the Vice President against an allegedly left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps in a tizzy because it wasn't the first to know and angry because it hates the President and Vice President anyway. This is nonsense....Have you Googled transcripts from the Clinton administration at the height of the Lewinsky scandal?

I'd be curious to see what Gregory has to say,but I don't speak French so I wouldn't be able to understand a word.

Clearly Gregory is using the Bill Clinton dictionary....

He states that he has a good relationship with McClellan and they work well?????????????????????????

By what standard could he possible explain his rude obnoxious demeanor as a good relationship....or working well with McClellan.

Praise from the DNC, criticism from real Americans.

I remember the following because it popped up on another thread:

Didn't Billy Clintoon have Brit Hume canned from the press core, for a WHOLE LOT LESS?

I seem to remember that Brit was the only one in the press room without his kneepads on, Slick went bonkers on him.

On another note, I guess this nitwit gregory thinks that being a reporter means waiting for a fax machine to spit out a ready made story for you. Time was that "reporters" would have been hanging around the ranch waiting for just such accidental moments.

Where have the real "reporters" gone?

During the first press conference held by the doctors treating Mr. Harry........the doctor stated that the first time someone asked the same question over, the press conference would be OVER!

Revoke his press pass! He was disrespectful and out of control. It's time for the republicans to STOP playing doormat!

I received this in the mail and it seems to fit this administration in so many ways lately....

The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance.
A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pr*cks, and gives you sense of security while you're actually being screwed. Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that.

I love the smell of a fuming left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps in the morning.

Behold the power of talk radio and the blogosphere!

I called his number and told the gal who answered to let David know there is treatment for PMS. She had a good laugh!

You are exactly right. I caught that too, but just got up and wasn't sure how to phrase it. Mr. Gregory's powers of reasoning and expression are pretty poor for an elite Washington reporter. Or he's a bad liar. Take your pick.

Davie-"I can be riled if I want to" Gregory is supposed to be on the roundtable on Timmy's show - Meet the Depressed--Sunday a.m. Wonder if he'll continue along these lines then. He may need to watch himself as Mary Matlin is on the same roundtable and she can and I suspect will give him a royal slapdown. BTW - Maureen Dowd and Paul Gigot are scheduled to be on the same roundtable, so could get interesting (thanks to phsstpok for the Sun show line-up)

In that sand box picture, David Gregory is the one with the cat poop in his hand, thinking he's found some "evidence".

A pathetic exercise in self justification. Reminds me of the typical abuser, (hey I was a little out of line but....she/he didn't tell me the truth, get my dinner on time, give me the grocery receipts....) This entire week was about the press, and their deep anger at not being in control, either politically, or journalistically. That is the basic trigger here. They just fired away, hoping to hit something.

In spite of Gregory's ability to speak French, this is just a childish, attempt to roll the story for the yokels, and is offensive in the extreme. An insult to one's intelligence. Of course, the result is that the press's political party, is bankrupt, corrupt, and flailing. Simply being a political operative, isn't really a good thing for the press, or their party. Gregory is such an unpalatable, ignorant twit.

I am surprised that the MSM (led by D. Gregory) didn't assemble outside the White House and start burning American flags, stone and firebomb the White House the same way the middle eastern division of the Democratic party do when they get upset. It didn't even require a cartoon to get this bunch going!

David Gregory = Geraldo without the class. I expect him to get hit by a chair in about 10 years.
