DUBAI The UAE and Palestine have agreed to the establishment of a new joint investment company, to be announced within a few weeks, according to Mazen Sinokrot, the Palestinian Minister of Economy, who has recently visited the UAE.
Speaking exclusively to Khaleej Times, Sinokrot said, "The purpose of establishing such venture is to explore the investment opportunities in Palestine, and to boost the economic ties with the UAE. Further we are planning as well an Initial Public Offering for the company in the UAE."
"We have already started with the first step towards establishing this company by talking to a large number of investors, that are expected to be the seed for the new entity, including Palestinian as well as Emirati investors, and we expect that this company will see the light within the coming few weeks," he added.
Opportunities: Palestine, according to Sinokrot, offers a variety of opportunities for investors, as there are "several strategic mega-projects on the table," he said.
"We seek to benefit from the UAE's expertise in the field of building and developing marine ports, to develop the Gaza port, not only that, we are also in critical need of management expertise," he added while referring to the successes of Dubai Ports World, paving the way for yet a new venture for the world's number three ports operator.

And if war breaks out with Iran, will all the ports be closed, so that we cannot get the supplies we need to exist and fight a war?
All it would take would be a big strike of the workers.

It won't. Most of the same people who are running our ports now will be running them after the new company takes over.
This is not near as big a deal as some people make it out to be.

Ya know, I would be genuinely happy for the UAE and Palestine, if it weren't for their Jew-hating history. They've stated multiple times that their ultimate goal, as an Islamic culture, is to destroy Israel and impose Islam throughout the world.
Like I said, I'm all for the success of less wealthy nations. The Islamic world is going to need some other sources of income because dependence on their oil is coming to an end very soon. And as far as the Palis are concerned, maybe economic success will dull their thirsty sword a bit.
I'm just trying to be optimistic, but I'm not sure it's working. Until I see mass conversions to Christianity there, I will be wary of their ultimate goals.

Gee the Security Agencies run thru the background and look at the company operations top to bottom. The Democrat Senate Election Committee sees a complete NONE issue they can use to mug for the cameras and pretend to be "tough on security issues". And the usual supposed "Conservatives" fall all over themselves to push the Democrats Propaganda lies. Did ANY of you even stop for a heartbeat to think that the people who are LYING to you are the Democrats and their pet whores in the Junk Journalism world?
The Dubai company has NO security functions ok? Port security REMAINS in US GOVERMENT hands. This PR hissy fit is just the first step in Chucky Schumer and his insane Senate clown posse pushing to have all port operations Federalized like the did with the Airlines Screeners after 9-11. Gee look at the "Conservatives" here on Freeper pushing to add ten of thousands of new employees to the Govt Union rolls for the Democrats to squeeze for Campaign Contributions. What a perfect game for the Dems win the PR game AND get the sucker "Conservatives" to do all the heavy lifting to grow the Fed Govt! When are Conservatives going to QUIT letting the Junk Journalists and the Democrats play them for naive fools?

I also feel that anyone that has signed the Earth Charter should be named enemy of the USA and treated as such.

So that is a copy and past that you apply to every Dubai port thread?
Do you even read what people posted before you past and run away?

When you run something, you have the ability to do a great many things by default regardless of the nationality of the $5 an hour rent-a-cop. If it means that we as a nation aren't going to do idiotic things like selling management rights to our ports to our enemies, perhaps federalizing them isn't a bad idea. I could see where, even in the most conservative definition of government, federalized ports and airports could potentially be justified.

The State Department is behind this, it seems UAE has recently purchased a German company called MAERSK recently and this is how it all got started Oh, it gets BETTER than that!
I did a HUGE Posting a research project on the names on CFIUS...now thanks to Cboldt, I caught ANOTHER "interesting" connectioon between DP World, the Port issue, and Bush nominees...
For Immediate Release Office of the Press Secretary January 17, 2006 Personnel Announcement President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate ten individuals, appoint four individuals and designate one individual to serve in his Administration. He also recess appointed two individuals: ... The President intends to nominate David C. Sanborn, of Virginia, to be Administrator of the Maritime Administration of the Department of Transportation. Mr. Sanborn currently serves as Director of Operations for Europe and Latin America at DP World. Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President for North America Service Delivery at CMA-CGM (America) LLC. Mr. Sanborn also served as Vice President for Network-Operations for American President Lines, Pte. Ltd. Earlier in his career, he served as Director for Operations for Sea-Land Service, Inc. Mr. Sanborn is a retired Lieutenant Junior Grade for the United States Naval Reserve. He received his bachelor's degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/01/20060117-4.html

Now, I find it INTERTESTING that the President's nominee to be Administrator of the Maritime Administration of the Department of Transportation, is ALSO Director of Operations for Europe and Latin America at DP World!
AND, he was at SeaLand as Director for Operations! And Maersk and SeaLand MERGED?!?!
The INSIDE connections to get this deal thru are STAGGERING!
Michelle Malkin NEEDS to see this info! This MUST be stopped!

Ok, one side or the other are lying. Either the Admin did NOT do sufficient background checks or the Senate Democrats, via their press releases to the Junk Journalists, are lying about the facts of this case. Since everyone is basing all their "news" coverage off of a Press Releases sent out by the Senate Democrat's Election Committee and being pushed by little Chuckie Schumer. I guess I pretty sure it is Chuckie who is lying here.
