HOUSTON -- Crime Stoppers rewards are being offered in two cities in hopes of catching five suspects wanted in three murders and one home invasion in the Houston area, KPRC Local 2 reported.
All five are Louisiana residents who relocated to Houston following Hurricane Katrina, and are believed to be either in the Bayou City or in New Orleans.
Investigators said Richard Foster, 17, and Ricardo J. Irvin, 18, are charged with capital murder in the Feb. 6 death of Gregory Sartain, 19. A second victim, Bennie Curtis, 25, was also shot and hospitalized in critical condition. Police said the motive for the double shooting was robbery for the victims' FEMA money.
Jerome Hampton, 23, was charged with murder in the Dec. 28 killing of Steven Kennedy. Investigators said Hampton and Kennedy were members of separate gangs in New Orleans and the shooting was for revenge.
Robert Helmstetter, 20, is charged with murder in the death of Freedie McGee, 21 on Feb. 9. Helmstetter and McGee were friends until they got into an argument after McGee accused Helmstetter of stealing items from him, according to authorities.
Michael T. Mabon, 22, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon for his role as one of three suspects in a home invasion at 6200 West Tidwell on Jan. 23, police said. Mabon and another suspect fled

Same old, same old.
They are among the criminals that the NO officials lost track off and ended up in Houston!
I would like someone to track the crime rates of cities where large numbers of evacuees live now. I bet the crime rate rockets in the next two years.
They have poured into Birmingham and Atlanta and caused all kinds of trouble.
Here's what I don't understand - for a state that prides itself on being "tough on crime," there sure is a lot of murder and crime in certain parts of Texas - even BEFORE these "evacuees" made it worse. Why doesn't Texas just crack down hard on the gangs and the murderers?
Academy has a nice 5 shot .38 S&W that will be mine tomorrow. Something to carry all the time.
No good deed goes unpunished.
The filth from the gutters of New Orleans is stinking up the neighborhoods of other cities. It's a shame that lives have to be lost before we can take the scum off the streets for good.I wonder how long the government will continue to fund the lowlife criminals and filthy child molesters of New Orleans?
