In 711 Muslim armies crossed the Strait of Gibraltar. They took Spain by force and remained there until they were thrown out during the reconquista in 1492. Every year, in a tradition that goes back to the 16th century, Spanish villages still celebrate the liberation from the Moors (as the Muslims were locally called) during Moros y Cristianos festivals in which effigies of the prophet Muhammad the so-called la Mahoma are mocked, thrown out of windows, and burned.

Burn, Baby...burn!!!!!
I think we should organize a Free Republic cruise to join this celebration in Spain. I'm definitely taking my vacation there. Wherever it is...
Of all the strange "crimes" that human beings have legislated out of nothing, "blasphemy" is the most amazing.
ROBERT HEINLEIN
Well, they burned Ronald McDonald in Lahore. They will pay! McDonalds will not be mocked!
Or to Denmark, for a week of cheese and beer!!!
more caving
D@mned straight!
"Insult Ronald McD and the Kentucky Colonel and you have insulted red-state America...and, imam, you have no idea what the consequence might be."
Muslims think that those sensitive Americans the run the government and the newspapers represent REAL America. They are in for quite a surprise!
The Islamofascists have made a bet that we're too weak to defend the standards of our civilization. The "cartoon crisis" appears to be orchestrated as a test of Western resolve by selecting a relatively powerless country and focusing mob action against it to see what happens. I'm ashamed to see that most of the West has decided to adopt a quasidhimmi attitude. The next test will probably be more severe than this one.
Good Dhimmi. You know your subordinate place. It is at the Muslims' pleasure that your head remains attached to your shoulders.
"Moors and Christians" is the popular name for black beans and rice. They changing that too?
Man... that's a toughie!
Seems to me those who are being threatened by these Mooselim fanatics should organize a counter force.
Let's put together an anti-islam terrorist group and start doing to them what they keep doing to us.
Maybe after a few "counter strikes", demonstrations and putting bounties on the leaders of these fanatics heads, they'll think twice about all their yellow-bellied chicken crap.
Look at the way these Islam cowards attack people. Why is it often unarmed woman and children, or people that have been completely bound and made helpless, etc.? Notice a pattern? They are so cowardly and afraid that all they do is taunt from behind the skirts of American and European laws.
They taunt the same way a child taunts a dog it thinks is safely behind a fence.
I say let's organize a counter force, raise funds and start issuing our own fartwa's and watch these yellow bellied cock roaches go screaming into the night.
Let the world see who these pathetic cowards are. Whya re we even paying any attention to them?
Just my two cents.
Hey Spaniards and all other appeasers.....remember to squeal like a pig when you grab your ankles for Islam.....maybe they will leave you alone!
Indeed. Consider: the Viking era began when Charlemagne began wars of forced conversion on the Norse peoples. Now, imagine that Martel had lost, and it was the *Muslims* who launched wars of aggression against the Vikings. Only one of two results, really... complete Muslim conquest, or today the head honcho in Damascus would be a fella named Ragnar.
ODIN!!!!
This directly has to do with the fact that Spain has become very weak in its Christianity. A Christian Spain would be far more quick to recognize Islam as "other" and be more willing to fight for something in which it believes. Modern secularism is inherently weak. It's message of Pan-acceptance and a condemnation of strong statements of authoritative belief combined with the remnants of a Christian heritage of turning the other cheek and forgiveness leaves Spain and Europe in a very vulnerable position.
I keep hoping that Europe is going to wake up, but I think it's going to take quite a push.
The British Army, of course, accused the American revolutionists of cowardice, as well. Why did they shoot from behind trees and fences and retreat instead of engaging in proper warfare?
You can call them cowards if you want, but they're effective and they don't back down.
You suggestion sounds fine, but I think it's only wise that we treat our enemy with the respect that they deserve.
I'm shocked that Dill Clinton let that one slide.
No loyalty, I guess.
I'm shocked again!
