He was a drug addict, not an alcoholic. He was on tons of pills because of his health.

"Thompson died at his fortified compound in Woody Creek, Colorado, at 5:42 pm on February 20, 2005 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 67 years old.

Thompson's son (Juan), daughter-in-law (Jennifer Winkel Thompson), and grandson (Will Thompson) were visiting for the weekend at the time of his suicide. Will and Jennifer were in the adjacent room when they heard the gunshot. They reported to the press that they do not believe his suicide was out of desperation, but was a well thought out act resulting from Thompson's many painful medical conditions.2 Thompson's wife, Anita, who was at the gym at the time of her husband's death, was on the phone with Thompson when he ended his life."

This is unreal, all you Freepers defending Clintons Arkancide holocaust like it is all BS. "Oh he drank and that is why Brits son killed himself".. Oh, well maybe Budweiser should put warnings on its cans "Consumption may cause suicide".

Why are you so accepting of what the family says about Thompson's suicide but cannot accept that Sandy Hume left a suicide note blaming his alcoholism.

Also another name...Ernest Hemingway.

1) Your post #51 is all about you, you, you. You did this, and you did that, and you did the other thing. Wake up and smell the coffee, bub. People are individuals and react as individuals to the particular circumstances of their lives.

2) Just because you don't know any alcoholics who committed suicide, doesn't mean there are none. You have an exceptional egocentric way of looking at the world. Apparently, if something doesn't exist in your life, it doesn't exist anywhere.

3) Suicide is one of the leading causes of death of people under the age of 30. Here's some facts for you, and a link to where I obtained these facts:

Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death for all U.S. men (Anderson and Smith 2003).

Males are four times more likely to die from suicide than females (CDC 2004).

Suicide rates are highest among Whites and second highest among American Indian and Native Alaskan men (CDC 2004).

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15 to 24. Of the total number of suicides among ages 15 to 24 in 2001, 86% were male.

Risk Factors -- Research has identified the following risk factors for suicide (DHHS 1999):

Previous suicide attempt(s)
History of mental disorders, particularly depression
History of alcohol and substance abuse
Family history of suicide
Family history of child maltreatment
Feelings of hopelessness
Impulsive or aggressive tendencies
Barriers to accessing mental health treatment
Loss (relational, social, work, or financial) Physical illness
Easy access to lethal methods
Unwillingness to seek help because of the stigma attached to mental health and substance abuse disorders or suicidal thoughts
Cultural and religious beliefs—for instance, the belief that suicide is a noble resolution of a personal dilemma Local epidemics of suicide
Isolation, a feeling of being cut off from other people

Ernest Hemingway.

You have an arguable point however. It would be extremely rare for a 27 year-old man to kill himself for any reason, short of serious mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. But for drinking too much? Not likely.

Hemingway did it because he felt he could not write anymore, plus his depression was genetic.. His Grandaughter did the same thing. It had nothing to do with drinking.

Brit Hume is a thoughtful and gracious man. I could not think of a better person for Vice-President Cheney to speak to. And I also love Brit when he slaps Juan Williams down when Juan says something lefty and stupid. Brit is stern, but still rather kind - like he's dealing with a wayward child.

THANK YOU! At least SOMEONE agrees with me! God daaamn, I can`t believe the bashing I`m getting on this! We got a zillion examples on Clinton Arkancide, but when it comes to a respected Foxnews newscaster, all questions are off limits! All I was saying is I don`t know ANYBODY who has ever killed themselves from drinking but I know plenty who have died FROM drinking, such as bad livers, bad kidneys etc ect. All I was saying is it just doesn`t jibe that Sandy Hume would kill himself after questioning Hillary. You would think that would be something that would want to make the guy live.."I am exposing the bitch"

Like the Great One Jackie Gleason once said: "I am not an alcoholic, I am a drunkard. There is a difference." If an alcoholic kills himself, it is not because he is an alcoholic but because of other reasons. When someone is a drunk, there is no pain. There is no depression. There is only glee. Yes, alcohol is a depressant, but it lasts only for a few hours in the form of a hangover, and usually the victims will is too shot to do anything else but sleep. Saying someone kills themselves because of alcohol is like saying someone kills themselves because they feel too good. It just does not exist. Drugs on the other hand is a different matter. I don`t care what anyone says, but I truly believe Sandy Hume was murdered, most likely by cocaine being put into his drink. A cocaine down will put anyone into a suicidal state if enough is given.

Believe what you will.

You have revealed yourself to be someone for whom facts are meaningless.

I would rather watch paint dry than watch O'Reilly or Hannity. Hume has some decent portions and does cover much of what's in the news currently, minus the 'wisdom' from the panel

Show me the facts not because you are afraid it will be insensitive to Brit Hume, but the facts of Sandys so called "alcoholism"... Show me the facts and you`ll see how he was getting under Hillarys skin and how that bitch took care of him.

And you don't think alcoholism has anything to do with depression? You're delusional. They go hand in hand quite often. This I know.
