FREEPER ACTIVISM: ACLU Christian-haters extort $940K on claims Boy Scouts are a "religion"
2/17/06

Posted on 02/17/2006 9:07:31 AM PST by Liz

When will the GOP Congress wake up and stop funding the extortionate demands of these anti-American Christian-hating bigots at the ACLU?

The City of Pasadena, California, recently settled with the American Civil Liberties Union to avoid further expense, agreeing to terminate its lease with the Boy Scouts and to give the ACLU $940,000 because the ACLU claims the Boy Scouts are a "religion" (see excerpt below).

Our main thrust should be a permanent takedown of the ACLU, to get them out of our treasury, out of our lives, and out of our religious beliefs.

The ACLU Foundation---worth some $135 million----may be the key. How did the ACLU accumulate so much money? Because they use our taxes to subsidize their nefarious, religious-hating activities. Now any number of financial travesties can be hidden in a Foundation. The IRS is making an effort to investigate these schemes----groups wrapping themselves in high-minded ideals to engage in tax fraud.

The IRS should determine whether the ACLU is properly accounting for all its activities derived from government monies, and whether the ACLU is inflating legal costs, and whether it is using government funds for the purposes stated.

Taxpayers need to know whether the ACLU is engaged in Enron-style accounting and spending practices using government funds---which could be grounds for government fraud charges.

In 1976, Congress passed the Civil Rights Attorneys Fee Awards Act, which was designed to encourage private lawyers to take on suits to protect civil and constitutional rights. The law provides that judges can order federal and state governments to pay legal fees to private lawyers who sued the government and won. The result has been a flood of civil rights cases in federal court.

We can---and will---silence the ACLU with a bit of activism. We need to insist our Congressmen repeal this abusive law that allows the ACLU to get rich on harassing Christian America. Congress must repeal laws enabling the ACLU's Christian-hating activities. Cut off the ACLU's funds and watch them disappear. Here's what we can do.

REFERENCE SOURCE FOR ARGUING REPEAL TO CONGRESS

Apparently, when Congress contemplated the fee-shifting bill three decades ago, it never conceived that 42 U.S.C. §1988 would be used to secure fees in esoteric battles over the meaning of the establishment clause of the First Amendment.

The statute gives a court "discretion" to award attorneys' fees to the prevailing party in civil rights cases. Study of the legislative history of the statute reveals that Congress intended this statute to apply to civil rights abuses, including certain race and sex discrimination cases, but not to arguments about whether Judge Roy Moore is allowed to display the Ten Commandments in the Alabama courthouse. During the deliberations on the bill, the Senate penned that "in many cases arising under our civil rights laws, the citizen who must sue to enforce the law has little or no money with which to hire a lawyer."

In the recent First Amendment lawsuits filed by the ACLU, the tables are turned. Small school districts and municipalities can either defend lawsuits and risk paying the ACLU's attorneys' fees if they lose, or they can voluntarily submit to the ACLU view of the Constitution.

Even if lawsuits over the establishment clause somehow fall within 42 U.S.C. §1988, the statute empowers courts with nothing more than "discretion" to award fees. In these cases, one would expect courts to withhold awarding fees. Since this is not happening, Congress must take immediate action to clarify 42 U.S.C. §1988 to explicitly exclude lawsuits related to the acknowledgement of God.

"How is it that courts are more accountable to these assclowns than to We the People? This is OUR country, not the ACLU's."

Because the ACLU is made up of Lawyers and the judges are lawyers and most are left wing just like the ACLU so who will win in any court? The ACLU. No matter if they win or lost the case the judge usually gives them the money because the are lawyers.

The ACLU is made up of anti-American scum and they are a political party and do not deserve to receive tax money for their political cause (destruction of the United States).

"Polticial party? How so? Under what criteria?"

A political party has an agenda that it proposes to place on the American people. Democrat, Republican, Communist, Socialist, etc. The NRA is not allowed to collect money tax exempt nor can their donors take it off of their income tax. They support the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. But the ACLU, which was formed for the covert destruction of the United States, has an agenda to destroy the family and values of the United States. They have been trying to advance this agenda for years and since they cannot get the elected representatives to pass law they have gone to their friends in the court system to illegally pass laws that support their agenda. They are anti-American scum and should not be allowed to destroy our country with tax free dollars nor with court awarded tax payer money.

Could not agree more.

I'd like nothing more than to see this accomplished....however, this has to do with non-profit tax status rather than political party status. FWIW, the USSC has continually upheld our Nation's two-party system.

This message must get out loud clear: Christians will no longer tolerate Christian-hating, the diminshing of Christians, the marginalizing and demeaning of Christians, the terrorizing and menancing of Christians.

As the disintegration of Western civilization continues, it becomes clearer that straying from our birthright, and the Founders' Christian principles, endangers our freedoms, and our government, and is forcing us to relive the savagery of the past, away from the distinctly Christian-American values the Founders envisioned.

The continued attacks by ACLU-type Christian-hating Secular Supremacists on religion----and the foundations of Christianity and our Christian-based government----that emanates from our legislatures, our schools, our courts, and in the public square, sets the stage for the task ahead.

96% of Americans celebrate Christmas. The restoration of American culture is in the hands of Christians.

Take this message home to your churches, religious leaders, pastors, parishoners, and Sunday schools: Candidates desiring Christian conservative endorsement must immediately take a strong stand against the ACLU-----and any other group which terrorizes Christians, and infringes on Christian liberties, wherever through the legal system, our schools, the media, the courts, wherever Christian-hating surfaces.

Christians can and will protect not only our religious freedoms, but our political freedoms, and our Christian-based government, as well.

They've gotten away with it for so long, they're considered THE source for constitutional issues. We need to change that.

SAMPLE MESSAGE

RE: ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties
Barnes-Wallace vs. Boy Scouts of America.

MESSAGE The City of San Diego, California, recently agreed to give the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) $940,000 to avoid further legal expenses, and agreed to terminate its lease with the Boy Scouts. The ACLU claimed the Boy Scouts are a religion.

Americans demand a list of religions ACLU has filed suit against to determine whether the ACLU discriminates exclusively against Christians, and is perhaps engaging in Christian-hating activities.

Americans demand the City of San Diego's payout to the ACLU be examined on grounds that the ACLU may have engaged in multiple conspiracies with litigants, and may have colluded with non-profit organizations that discriminate against the Boy Scouts on religious terms, and may have conspired to illegally kickback tax dollars to these individuals.

The ACLU needs to detail the scope and dimension of its financial activities to determine the extent to which monies obtained from the City of San Diego may have been illegally redirected. The ACLU should be asked to explain (1) how the organization funds its activities. (2) how budgetary requirements are compiled, (3) how the ACLU solicits funding, (4) the manner in which the ACLU allocates assets, (5) whether the ACLU fraudulently converted tax dollars to unlawful surveillance and other illegal purposes, and, (6) whether the ACLU employs accounting fraud.

I dunno, the words "cutting" and "funding" don't seem to appear in the same sentence of anyone's lexicon in Washington D.C.

It's a pattern - ACLU is against anyone and any organization that supports or tries to build good character as well as any expression of religion. They even objected (and in some cases won) to the National Honor Society having as one of its requirements "character."

ACLU reminds me of Communists, especially during the late '30s and early 40s, when they initiated a widespread program to destroy marriage, the family, religion, etc.

Also, the ACLU is noted for its support of pedophiles. It a truly perverted organization that neither liberals or conservatives should be able to support.

You said it - the ACLU practices extortion. By picking on small school districts and communities who cannot afford expensive lawsuits, it has forced them to comply to its orders while at the same time sending a message to the rest of the country, notably to impressionable youngsters, that there is something bad, even illegal and harmful, about religion and good character.

Just checking on FR and was going to ping you to this.

More people need to wake up and see that the ACLU and its pets are just as much a thread to freedom as Islamic Jihad, if not more so.

Our GOP controlled congress just needs to repeal the law that awards activist organizations like the ACLU legal fees everytime they get communities to bow down. It is these large awards of legal fees that keep the ACLU going.
