The following is a translation of portions of one pivotal tape-recorded meeting that took place in late April or May of 1995. In it, Saddam Hussein and his senior aides discuss the fact that United Nations inspectors had uncovered evidence of Iraq's biological weapons program a program whose existence Iraq had previously denied. At one point, Hussein Kamel, Saddam's son-in-law, and the man who was in charge of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction efforts can be heard speaking openly about hiding information from the U.N.
SADDAM HUSSEIN: Lieutenant General Hussein
HUSSEIN KAMEL: Thank you, sir.
Sir, I would not be speaking so openly if it were not for your excellency's and Mr. Tariq's clarification and statement that we produced biological weapons.
We did not reveal all that we have. On the subject of missiles, they can bring up three issues with us now, in one year or in two years' time. They are undeclared one of them being the location. Secondly, they don't know about our work in the domain of missiles. Sir, this is my work and I know it very well. I started it a long time ago, and it is not easy. The issues are more dangerous, a lot more dangerous than what they came to know. I am explaining to your excellency, sir.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, ... But Bush Lied! But Bush Lied! But Bush Lied! [\sarc]
GREAT POST!
YO SOOOOO ROCK!
Why do people tape themselves and write memo's about incriminating things?
Scott Ritter will soon claim that these recordings are fraudulent.
Watch.
The liberal MSM finally getting a clue now that it's widely perceived that Iraq never had WMD. Almost like the treasonous A-Holes planned it that way.
I can only think of two reasons:
1. Self-protection, since they think someone else may say something that can be used against them later. Also, if they dissemble to one person, then they can go back in the tape and learn the lie so they can keep their story straight.
2. Arrogance, since they think they are significant enough that every meeting, every word will be of interest to posterity - and not in the way it is now.
I didn't know Karl Rove was fluent in Arabic AND able to mimic the voices of Saddam, his family, and his cabinet so well! /sarc
Thanks! (LOL!) Did you happen to see Nightline last night? I fell asleep and missed it, so I was looking for info on the Saddam tapes this morning.
The Bush Administration has been pathetically incompetent in getting tapes/documents translated, something like only 5% of relevant information has even been looked it.
There is NO excuse for this.
LOL! NOPE! I was a sleepy head too! but then woke up at 3:45 am!!! OY!
The MSM ain't going down on this without their usual fight...yesterday's Brian Ross piece included the allegation that the Bush admin was tring to keep these tapes secret (goes to the current "culture of secrecy" meme) and this piece conveniently includes a line about the Iraqi's getting their raw materials for WMD from America.
D'ya think they could have found an extract that didn't have that in it?...I believe there are only some 30,000 tapes per John Loftus and still they had to find a bit with a hidden slam.

Why are WMDs even an issue anymore? Why aren't we, the members of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, pressing this BBC article to the fullest?
I can only guess that there aren't nearly enough trusted translators that can translate Arabic. What are the odds of speaking Arabic and not being a Muslim?
I am glad I am not the only one up early....Chase woke me up at 5:30....yawn.
I was leary of this show,...because I don't like Brian Ross...and they really didn't spend much time on this story...
Aside from what you posted...there were a few things that made it seem like Saddam either thought he had WMDs and didn't, or that Saddam was trying to fool others into thinking they still had them...
and then Ross ended the segment by saying that "both sides of the arguement over whether Iraq had WMDs would find enough in the tapes to make the case for their side"...
IOW...in HIS opinion, the tapes do NOT prove that Iraq had WMDS...even though it sure did sound like it...
LOL!!!
OY!!
Bless your heart!!!

Perhaps you might speak, read & write Arabic? Would you like to learn? If so, we can find some work for you. President Bush arranged incentives for those who care to learn the language. Check your local University, Arabic is actually quite easy to learn.
