Today Show Implies FNC Hid News of Cheney Beer: Transcript Proves Otherwise

An unsuspecting viewer watching this morning's Today show would have thought that Fox News failed to disclose that in his interview by Brit Hume yesterday, VP Cheney acknowledged having a beer at lunch on the day of the shooting incident.

But when it comes to the MSM, it pays to be 'suspecting.'

Here's how NBC White House reporter Kelly O'Donnell artfully chose her words:

"The official White House transcript of the interview shows Cheney said 'I had a beer at lunch.' Fox News did not show that particular clip during Brit Hume's program."

Having watched the Hume/Cheney interview, I was jarred by O'Donnell's statement since I was certain that I had heard reference to the mid-day beer. And sure enough, the interview transcript confirms it:

Brit Hume:

"The Vice-President said he had one beer at lunch, but the afternoon hunt began a couple hours later."

So Hume and Fox News did indeed inform its viewers of the facts, but chose to have Hume report them rather than playing the Cheney clip. Yet the clear inference from the Today show story was that Fox News failed to disclose the lunch-time beer.

If anyone is hiding facts from viewers, it is NBC News and the Today show.

yeah... it is harsh. And it's the same for fishing without a license. You lose the boat, the gear etc.

"They actually was calling Fox the f-word network????"

Seems only fair since I refer to CNN as the "c-word network"...

:-)

LOL, nice try, as if the SS, ie, law enforcement, would let anyone drunk with a gun around the VP, much less the VP himself.

Does Joe six pack have law enforcement with him 24/7?

That I don't know. I don't know anybody that ever shot a hunting buddy.

I've got a feeling for Joe 6pack.... it wouldn't play out to well. You're drinking.... you have no hunting license... and you shoot somebody. I wouldn't try that in oklahoma.

Kelly O'Donnell is an unabashed left-wing anti-Bush angry liberal. During the 04 campaign she ran the worst Bush bashing pieces I ever saw, with the exception of Dan Rather's and Mary Mapes' debacle.

So, under what authority would a breathalyzer test be ordered?

It is only required if one is operating a motor vehicle.

The interview between Couric and Mary Matlin was priceless, IMO.

I love it when Matlin rolls her eyes while Couric spews.

Matlin said that she heard 4 different versions of the event and defended Cheney's decision to allow Ms. Armstrong to notify the local press....since she was an eyewitness.

When Katie cited the LA Times, and Chency's penchant for secrecy, Matlin rolled her eyes. Priceless.

I quit drinking a little over two years ago. These days I'm completely sober when I shoot people.

Interesting didn't know that. I keep an eye on Kelly since her reports typically serve as set-ups for the opening segment. By and large I have found her relatively harmless, but this morning was a stunning exception.

You know, I used to lament the fact that there were only 3 channels on TV. Now I haven't watched television in over 2 years and I don't miss it at all!

The conspriazoid troll has nothing, as usual, he just can't get over their loss of 2000 and 2004.

Sad.
