NEW BEDFORD, Mass., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- One victim of the hatchet attack Feb. 1 at a Massachusetts gay bar said he was treated badly in the ambulance because he was gay.
Robert Perry, himself a paramedic supervisor with Mercy-General Ambulance in Boston, said the New Bedford EMS ambulance personnel ignored his complaints, were rough with him and slammed an oxygen mask on his face where the gash was.
Teenager Jacob D. Robida was eventually killed by police after swinging a hatchet in the bar Puzzles.
Perry said he is filing a complaint with the Massachusetts Department of Health's Office of Emergency Medical Services, the Boston Herald reports. He also sent a letter to Scott Lang, mayor of New Bedford.
Lang said he is investigating the complaint along with others voiced that New Bedford police routinely ignore calls at the gay bar.

Rational folks would be sending thank you cards to the Police officer who eventually ended this nightmare. Some folks become and even remain victims all on their own.

They're probably tired of being asked to sing karaoke Village People tunes every time they show up.

rough with him and slammed an oxygen mask on his face where the gash was. Talk about irony! Here is a guy engaging in a dangerous lifestyle complaining about being handled roughly by the people helping him.
(I know- we're not supposed to discriminate against HIV/AIDS carriers even when they put others' lives in danger).

Teenager Jacob D. Robida was eventually killed by police after swinging a hatchet in the bar Puzzles. What, he got upset after not getting a good reception to playing the Injun of the Village People?
To: ncountylee
Next he'll be griping that they took his temperature and stabbed his gerbil.

My brother is an EMT and he told me they are very apprehensive of going to a homosexual hang out because of AIDS and why shouldn't they ... they risk their lives trying to save them.

If I were an EMT I'd just refuse to even go there. Why help people who are focused on dying anyway.
(Of course I also believe that the only correct answer to someone on a hunger strike is to let them starve to death)
