Ha! I'm not Catholic; I'm not offended though.

IF you are correct about this incident being mentioned until 2009...and I'm not necessarily agreeing with you...what of it?
Frankly it will remind the public of the offensive media. And the human-ness of their vice president.

Sounds to me as if they are one of the group of posters who were rabid just before 2004 election about the VP stepping down. This incident has just given them another stage to perform on.

I'll bet Wittington's family has been put through the grist mill by the media for the past 3 days.

Like his health and heart problems?
MSM have continually speculated and opined that he ought to step down.
VP does not dance to the beat of media drummers.

All I know is that from now till 2009 there will be reference to this incident everytime Cheney is in the news.Big deal. Walter Mondale was Vice President for four years and all anyone remembers him for during that time is introducing some musician on national TV. Unless a Vice President ends up succeeding the President, what he does has no impact on anything.
If you are a Republican Vice President, it's your job to be a lightning rod (Spiro, Rocky, J. Danforth Quayle). Expect some Left-wing nut to start claiming soon that this whole shooting incident was a Rove plot to deflect attention from GWB issues!

Well - I certainly disagree. Because of the blind hatred the left has for George Bush, it would not matter if President Bush had selected INSERT WHATEVERNAME YOU WISH as his Veep instead of VP Cheney. The left will attack using any excuse possible. This hunting accident is just one of the latest "issues" they are turning into a tempest. I think in fly-over America, the MSM is showing its *ss again as usual on this one.

Yeah, I remember there being major gossip during the RNC convention that the VP was going to step aside. And then what happened? The VP accepted the nomination and said that he would give the campaign all that he had. Bush/Cheney won and Bush/Cheney will finish their term. Anyone who thinks otherwise is being ridiculous.

I think he should consider it. It's a privilge to serve not a right, thats what seperates us from leftist. What is best for the country and the administration needs to be thought of. Cheney stepping down would only strengthen Republican chances in the future anyway.
I do not believe Cheney is "evil" or that he was drunk or any of the other stories the media is spinning but sadly perception IS reality. I expect the media to act that way, they are lazy and the have no diginity.

"I just dropped a pot of very hot water, and the splashes scalded my brother on one arm in a number of spots. Can anyone tell me which members of the national media I am required to notify and the maximum time period allowed for making the notification?"Isn't this the most absurd witch hunt you've ever seen ?
Katherine Armstrong has said that at the time everyone's concern had been for the well being of Mr Whittington. As it should have been. She also said that while the Vice President made it clear that news of the accident would have to be made public that he was mindful of his position as a guest there and advised her to release it in whatever way she felt comfortable doing.

You are making the mistake of assuming that the members of the press actually are honest and GIVE a d@^n. They don't care that Whittington got shot (in fact, they wish he would die already to give them a better story).
It doesn't matter what VP Cheney does or doesn't do -- if they don't have anything to attack him on, they'll make something up.

Actually, I hope they DO continue to bring it up. A LOT of Americans are hunters or at least have been hunting. I had some guy tell me the other night it's only 4% of the population but that's based on the number of licenses that are issued. I only get a license when I'm planning a hunting trip. Haven't gone for years, but I know full well what they are like, what happens when you go, etc. A very LARGE portion of the population is just like me.
So, the more dems bring it up, the more elitist they look and the more they let the people know just how far they are removed from everyday life in this country.

I think the VP giving the interview to Brit speaks volumns about how he feels about the rest of the press.
