My hubby was so mad at the press (and he's pretty non-political, so this was unusual) that he wrote an email to the White House in support of Cheney's actions. I was somewhat surprised - but he can't be the only one feeling like that. If it filters down to him, how many other non-political types are also getting PO'd?

"Brit reporting that the VP did not want Harry's wife and grown children to hear that their husband and father had been shot over the air waves. That's apples and oranges. It was all over the airwaves Sunday afternoon so my statement that Cheney should have given an announcement on Sunday wouldn't have mattered to the family.

And another thing ... if those slobbering attack dogs think the American people will turn on Cheney because he had a beer for lunch ... they're crazier than I thought.
And I'm a tee-totaling Baptist.

The Vice President's ONLY role is take pressure off the Chief Exec. not to make life worse for him! Cheney has done more to harm this administration that most Democrats. Why he plays right into their hands is beyond me. He should step down.
To: Howlin
I'm thinking that Cheney might not have been able to do interviews before this.I hadn't thought of this. You might be right.

Good one of David Gregory. I call him the Scarlett O'Hara of the White House Press Corps.
Maybe my friend BOAZO can illustrate this for us.

I'm amused with this new mantra of how long it's been since Cheney held a news conference.
I wasn't aware that vice presidents held news conferences.
Is anybody else?

I'm only part way through the comments but two observations so far.
What we will be seeing at 6PM EST is a deeply responsible man who feels great remorse at the accident that befell his friend. There is darned little personal accountability anymore and this is sure to resonnate with the American people.
Second, while he won't ever forget it, I do hope he can forgive himself. Cheney is a tough cookie with a loving family and support system, I do believe he'll be OK.

Of course, there's nothing more that the press would love than a blubbering Cheney.

I agree with you, and as far as Hannity is concerned, Freepers should learn who their friends are. I can't stand to see Freepers belittle Sean.

Not a regular thing. What is this? Has there been a revolution and the White House press corps took over the country?
