News articles report Kenedy County is where the sheriff's report was issued. Kleburg County is just above Kenedy.

Sorry. You're right....I'm wrong. I did find this in a NYT article:
"Under the law, even an accidental hunting fatality can result in criminal charges. Mr. Cheney could be charged with negligence, defined as failing to understand the dangers involved and disregarding them, or recklessness, defined as understanding the dangers and disregarding them."

From now on I'll reserve my comments until the guy Cheney shot speaks.
As of today I haven't heard the shot guy say whether it was accidental or intentional.
Why haven't we heard from him? Is there a cover-up going on?
I fear for the VP, though.

Well, Kenedy County is one of the least-populated counties in the nation - fewer than 500 - probably doesn't even have a DA; Kleberg County (county seat Kingsville) is likely the closest county with one, so they probably have jurisdiction.

Too bad the hunting trip wasn't in Chappaquiddick, Massachusetts where they just seal the case for 200 years!

Of course. If a person dies, you have to investigate.
Dick Cheney may very well end up killing a good friend. He must feel terrible, the families must be heartbroken -- and the media and the democrats can think of nothing but how they can use this politically against the President.
They are sick vultures, they are unprincipled swine, they are despicable excuses for human beings. They are, in short, liberals.

"Especially if the police already ruled it an accident."
Never mind what the police report says, what does Whittington say? Why isn't he allowed to make a statement.
If I were Mr Whittington, I'd request around the clock security at the hospital.
This is getting series.

And if it's the typical investigation, (counting on whose county it is) the grand jury will say that it was an accidental situation and that Cheney will not be charged. And if we have another Ronnie Earl-type DA, then we will see grand jury after grand jury convened until we get the desired results.

Can anyone confirm the following: Shotgun Make and Model;
Gauge; Size and Load of the shotshell?
I have read FOUR different pieces of info to include: "VP was using a "Shotgun Rifle"!
